OAKLAND, Calif. Nike Air Max Womens Black Orange . -- With a fabulous finish to the preseason, rookie Derek Carr created a big question for the Oakland Raiders heading into the regular season. Carr threw three touchdown passes to make a case he should be Oaklands starting quarterback as the Raiders beat the Seattle Seahawks 41-31 on Thursday night. Carr was almost perfect in the start in place of Matt Schaub, completing 11 of 13 passes for 143 yards and led Oakland (2-2) to four touchdowns in four drives. "Lets not burry our head in the sand," coach Dennis Allen said. "But I havent changed anything. I think were in good shape where were at with all of our quarterbacks and I feel good about being in the position were in." Schaub was anointed the starter after being acquired in an off-season trade from Houston. Coach Dennis Allen hasnt deviated from that plan even as Schaub struggled in the preseason before resting this game with a sore throwing elbow. Now the question will be if Carrs strong performance that included one touchdown drive against Seattles first-team defence or Schaubs health will be enough to change that plan before the opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 7. "Thats up for coach Allen to talk about," Carr said. "My job is to come in and compete my tail off and help this team win." The Seahawks (2-2) have no questions about their starting quarterback. Russell Wilson made the most of a brief cameo, completing three passes for 77 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown pass to Luke Willson on a four-play drive to open the game. "When I look back at this preseason the thing that jumps out at me is what our offence was able to do when the first group was in there," coach Pete Carroll said. "Russell had a phenomenal preseason statistically in every way. That group looks ready to play." The bigger question for the Super Bowl champions coming into this game was whether former Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor could show enough to earn a spot on the roster as a third quarterback. Pryor, booed by his former fans, played his best game of the preseason, going 11 for 17 for 134 yards and a 33-yard touchdown pass to Phil Bates. He also ran for 12 yards on four carries. DeShawn Shead also scored on a 55-yard interception return on a pass thrown by Matt McGloin. But this night was all about Carr, who said he was "less rookie" than he was two weeks ago with the starting offence when he yelled out the play in the huddle so loud that his teammates were afraid the defence could hear the call. The second-round pick out of Fresno State made the most of the starting assignment. He completed five passes on the opening drive, including a third-down conversion to Denarius Moore, who was covered by All-Pro Richard Sherman. Latavius Murray capped the drive with a 5-yard TD run. "I was really excited that they played," Carr said of Seattles starting defence. "You obviously want to play against the best. They have the ring to prove it. Thats what were chasing." Carr was just getting started, leading back-to-back one-play touchdown drives following big special teams plays. After a fumbled kickoff by Bryan Walters, Carr threw a 36-yard TD pass to Moore on the following play to give the Raiders a 14-7 lead. TJ Carries 45-yard punt return set up Oaklands next drive at the Seattle 20. On the next play, Carr threw a TD pass to Mychal Rivera, who made a great adjustment on a pass that was deflected by Malcolm Smith. Carr ended his night with an eight-play touchdown drive, capping it with a perfectly placed back-shoulder 11-yard throw to Moore. That gave Oakland a 28-7 lead and sent the crowd into a frenzy rarely seen in the preseason. That ended Carrs night and started what could be more than a week of questions about the opening day starter. "The great thing is we have three guys who could start at quarterback for us," Allen said. "Im very happy with where were at with the quarterback room. The biggest thing is to see where Matt is when he comes in Monday." NOTES: Walters had five kick returns for 137 yards, two punt returns for 13 yards and three catches for 47 yards as he tries to earn a spot on Seattles roster. ... Undrafted rookie George Atkinson III had eight carries for 63 yards for Oakland. ... McGloin threw a TD pass to Brice Butler, the fourth time the two had connected on a scoring play this preseason. Portuguese sides Benfica and Porto also advanced to the last eight while Basel overcame an early red card to win 2-1 at Salzburg and progress from a last-16 second leg that was briefly suspended because of crowd trouble. Lyon, Valencia and AZ Alkmaar will also be in Fridays draw in Nyon, Switzerland, where the team to avoid will be Juventus -- even though the Italian champions made heavy work of their all-Italian last-16 match against Fiorentina. CALGARY -- Clifton Smiths CFL debut was memorable with a winning touchdown and 188 return yards for the Calgary Stampeders. Smiths five-yard touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter restored Calgarys lead en route to a 40-26 win over the B.C. Lions on Friday. And with 130 yards in the game, Calgarys Jon Cornish broke his own single-season rushing record by a Canadian running back. The New Westminster, B.C., native extended his mark to 1,545 yards with three games remaining in the regular season. Calgary moved six points clear of the Lions atop the CFLs West Division to 12-3. The Lions (9-6) lost their second in a row. Smith signed as a free agent with Calgary last month and was activated from the practice roster this week. The 28-year-old running back-return specialist from Fresno, Calif., played in the NFLs Pro Bowl in 2009 as a returner for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith last played in a football game a year ago in the United Football League. "Every time I step on the field I feel like Im capable of doing something big and my teammates blocked great for me and made my job easy," Smith said. "Ive been preparing for this for a long time and I just cashed in on my opportunities." The Edmonton Eskimos (3-11) host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (9-5) in another West Division game Saturday. Calgary, B.C. and Saskatchewan have already secured playoff berths. The next three games will determine playoff matchups in the West. The Stampeders are in Edmonton next Friday, host the Roughriders the following week and finish in Vancouver against the Lions on Nov. 1. The Lions are at home for their final three games against Saskatchewan, Edmonton and Calgary respectively. With Fridays victory, the Stampeders are the front-runners to host the division final and earn the semifinal bye. "It does keep us in the drivers seat, so to speak," Calgary coach John Hufnagel said. "We have three tough ball games remaining and once its all over, the dust settles and we find out where we stand." An Edmonton upset of the Roughriders on Saturday would allow Calgary to clinch a home playoff berth. Trailing until the fourth quarter, the Lions tied the game 26-26 at 6:47. But Stampeder defensive back Chris Randle sealed the win after Smiths touchdown with an interception and 65-yard runback to score at 13:53. Smith was inserted into the lineup because non-import running back Matt Walter was out of the game with a concussion. Import Larry Taylor, the CFLs leader in total return yards, came out to make the impport-non-import ratio work. Nike Air Max Womens Black Sale. "Even though this was his first CFL game, with his experience that he brought from the other league, I was pretty sure the game wouldnt be too big for him," Hufnagel said of Smith. "He took advantage of an opportunity, made some big returns and did a tremendous job on the touchdown catch." Cornish scored on a two-yard run and surpassed his previous rushing record of 1,457 yards in the opening quarter. He broke Norm Kwongs 56-year-old record in the final game of the regular season in 2012, so Cornish has time to make his numbers more gaudy. Calgary quarterback Kevin Glenn threw touchdown passes to Marquay McDaniel and Smith. Stampeders kicker Rene Paredes made four of his five field-goal attempts, including strikes from 43 and 45 yards in front of an announced 26,115 at McMahon Stadium. Lions quarterback Thomas DeMarco, in his fourth start in the absence of the injured Travis Lulay, threw touchdown passes to Courtney Taylor and Nick Moore and scored on a one-yard plunge. DeMarco also threw a two-point convert to Taylor. B.C.s Paul McCallum was good on his one field-goal chance and contributed a punt single point. "Certainly the guys fought back to tie the game," Lions head coach Mike Benevides said. "We didnt make enough plays. Thats a good football team over there and we couldnt get it done. "Any time you play a game, all that matters is the result and winning the football game. Well take a look at the tape and see what we can take out of it." The Lions pulled even in the fourth quarter on DeMarcos six-yard touchdown pass to Moore and two-point convert throw to Taylor. DeMarco, now 2-2 this season, completed 23 of 39 passing attempts for 301 yards and was intercepted twice. Glenn was 22-for-37 in passing for 259 yards and picked off once. Glenn improved to 8-2 in his starts this season. Backup Drew Tate threw the ball once in the game and had three yards on two carries. Calgary dominated time of possession in the first half with almost 21 minutes with the ball, but led just 19-11. B.C.s ground game continued to struggle with just 56 rushing yards. "You dont want to keep giving the ball to their team, especially at home," DeMarco said. "You want to make sure that you put everybody in a good situation and I wasnt able to do that today in the beginning. "Weve just got to come out and fix our mistakes. Im sure were going to watch film and see a lot of stuff that we could have done differently."
