So, as far as we know, Madden (EA) completely monopolizes NFL games because they are fully licensed. When you purchase coins, you can only buy from them. Now I'm just thinking that monopoly in the United States is illegal, so can it be classified as one? I don't know all the context. If they bypass this thing, it's just a random problem.
There are many football games, only one NFL game. No one will invest in a great football game because they can't use NFL teams, logos or players.
It's not a monopolist of football, but EA has the exclusive right to use NFL similarity. Unfortunately, there is no dark business here. If other people are willing to pay more for NFL than EA, then you will let others make games, but there will never be a long relationship at this point, and there is a lack of another large developer who can afford exclusive rights. If NFL is willing to open up copyrights to multiple companies, EA will rarely be willing to pay for what they do. For NFL, the current setup is win-win and has no downside. Opening up the sector to more competition will actually hurt NFL revenue. We know that won't happen. |
