Now that some distance has been put between 2018 and the present Cheap Nike Zoom , StockX has again released a list of the biggest trends in sneaker resale — along with some hints at what lies ahead. The list identified both the best-selling silhouettes and individual releases over the last year, along with the styles that awarded the greatest markup for buyers, using data from StockX’s sneaker resale platform.Much like in Q4 of 2018, the styles and silhouettes that continue to dominate the resale market come from Nike and Adidas. In particular, the Air Jordan 1, 3 and 4 silhouettes, and nearly anything from Adidas’ Yeezy lineup are still the platform’s best-sellers. Air Jordan styles make up three of the top five best-selling silhouettes on StockX’s platform, and the Air Jordan 1 Retro retains the top spot as the most desirable silhouette in all of sneaker resale. While Air Jordan sneaker silhouettes lead in terms of sales by dollar value, the sneaker styles that move the most volume on the platform all belong to Adidas. The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Butter” boasts more than 45,000 sales on StockX, followed by the Yeezy 500 “Solid Grey” Wave Runner with just under 44,000 sales. Those two styles accounted for more than 30 percent of all sales collected by the 10 best-selling sneakers on StockX in terms of sales volume. In third, the Adidas Yeezy Boost 500 “Blush” has sold a little more than 38,000 pairs on the platform. In fact, all five of the top-selling sneakers on StockX were from Adidas’ Yeezy line, which may be a product of the brand’s commitment to manufacturing and distributing more volume in 2018 while only releasing a combined 11 drops between the 350 V2 and 500 silhouettes.Jordan and Nike took the opposite approach and released 184 Jordan retro styles last year, with almost a third of those being Jordan 1’s, according to Highsnobiety, which collaborated with StockX on the list. However, the relative exclusivity of some high-profile Jordan styles on the platform has kept resale prices high for the brand, showcased by the popularity of the Jordan 1 silhouette.StockX and Highsnobiety also took a look at the most valuable individual styles on the platform throughout the year — and of course, the list is a lesson in exclusivity. The most expensive sneaker sold on the platform in the past year was the Nike Mag 2016, a re-creation of the shoe Marty McFly wears in the feature film "Back to the Future." With an extremely limited release and a tremendous amount of popular culture carryover, the silhouette has been sought after since it came out three years ago Cheap Nike ZoomX , and a pair recently sold for $24,000 on StockX. Currently, the lowest asking price for a pair of these sneakers on StockX is $38,999.Rounding out the top three most valuable sneakers by individual worth are the Air Jordan Kobe PE Pack, a retro silhouette valued at $12,100, which was produced during retired NBA superstar Kobe Bryant’s lone year as a sneaker endorsement free agent in 2002 — and the $12,000 Air Jordan 5 Transformers Sample. The Transformers Sample never hit retail; instead it was the product of a line that Nike created specifically for Mark Wahlberg for the "Transformers" franchise.According to StockX, when comparing a sneaker’s resale price premium with its original retail price, Nike’s “The Ten” collaboration with Virgil Abloh is nearly untouchable. The Off-White x Air Jordan 1 “UNC” sells for 479 percent of its retail price on the platform. In fact, the three sneakers with the most markup as a percentage of retail price are all Off-White x Nike silhouettes. The Off-White x Nike Air Presto sells for 400 percent of its retail value on StockX, and the Off-White x Nike Blazer Mid sells for 362 percent of its retail price.Editor’s Note: This story was reported by FN’s sister magazine Sourcing Journal.
