Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels likely definitely won't be ready for opening day, but he's confident he will probably pitch between April, Philly.com reports .

Hamels says they are 30 days behind Dadi Nicolas Jersey schedule because biceps tendinitis forced him to halt Chris Jones Jersey throwing in December. He thinks are experts in ready to me s up a mound in 10 days.

"Don't feel alarmed," Hamels said. "I feel healthy now. It's planning to get the force and stamina to accomplish this comfortably and not just injure myself. I'm glad we had been able to dig up it earlier. Let me progre s during spring training. Things might be good."

Eric Berry Jersey

The Phillies and Hamels downplayed the seriousne s of the injury.

"I see myself pitching in April," Hamels said.

Hamels, 30, went8-14 which includes a 3.60 ERA for your Phillies in 2013. Fresh Jah Reid Jersey started not le s than 31 games most of the last six seasons.

Giants 5, Nationals 4

Moving the Needle: Freddy Sanchez ends it within the 13th with a walk-off hit, +.372 WPA. The Nats were built with a 4-0 lead through six, and they were up 4-1 through seven. However the bullpen blew it in the eighth. The Giants picked up three to tie, and then nearly walked served by the win within the ninth. Both teams had their chances in extras, however it wasnt until the 13th the Giants finally came through. A stroll and hit set up Sanchez, who hit a simple double down the right field line. Of course, he gets credit for only a single, but I dont think that much matters.

Notables

Aaron Rowand: 1 for 6, 1 HR. His seventh-inning shot got the Giants rolling.

Mike Morse: 2 for 5, 1 2B, 1 HR. In 465 PA in the last two seasons he has a .371 wOBA.

John Lannan: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 6 K. Its the same old peripherals, very same results for Lannan. Its still amazing how he keeps his ERA below his FIP. (Except this past year, of course.)

Also within this i sue: Rays 5, Angels 1 | Reds 8, Cubs 2 | Orioles 4, As 2 | Brewers 7, Marlins 2 | White Sox 3, Mariners 1 | Phillies 3, Dodgers 1 | Twins 6, Indians 4 | Rockies 3, Padres 0 | Royals 3, Blue Jays 2 | Tigers 13, Rangers 7

Rays 5, Angels 1

Moving the Needle: Justin Ruggiano hits a two-run homer to extend the Rays lead, +.125 WPA. He hit it with the swagger of a guy whose tried it a hundred times or more. Around the sixth pitch of his struggle with Ruggiano, Tyler Chatwood laid one over the plate. Ruggiano switched on it and gave his bat a little its gone to s. That made it 4-0 Rays, which would hold up easily using their ace around the mound. For Ruggiano it had been his third hit of year in the seventh game played.

Notables

David Price: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 7 K. He is constantly on the suppre s walks, which is the main distinction between his numbers this year and the numbers this past year. Yet, strangely, up to now his ERA has predicted his FIP and the FIP has predicted his ERA.

Reid Brignac: 3 for 4. They were all singles, but Brignac will require them any way he is able to have them; he's a .190 wOBA (.186 AVG, .220 OBP) in 124 PA this season.

Reds 8, Cubs 2

Moving the Needle: Drew Stubbs goes deep to own Reds a lead, +.118 WPA. With the game tied 1-1 within the third Drew Stubbs took some other fastball over the right field wall to give the Reds the lead the very first Hroniss Grasu Jersey time. Which was his ninth homer of the year and 2nd in 2 games. Thats a pleasant recovery if you do drought; before Sunday he hadnt hit one out since May 11th. The Reds then added a pair in the fourth before jumping out way ahead with three in the fifth.

Notables

Mike Leake: 8 IP, 10 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Because the 10 hits might indicate, he'd only one 1-2-3 inning all game. He has now thrown 20 innings and allowed six runs in his three starts back after his demotion.

Jay Bruce: 3 for 4, 2 2B. He scored the 3 times on base, though he didnt drive in any.

Jonny Gomes: 2 for several, 1 HR, 1 HBP. His three-run homer in the fifth put the Reds way ahead.

Orioles 4, As 2

Moving the Needle: Adam Rosales provides the biggest good and bad swings, +.118 WPA and -.124 WPA. In the first game Daniel Brown Jersey of the growing season Rosales found himself in the middle of the experience. Within the fourth he took Brian Matusz deep, cutting the Orioles lead to two. He was so excited to hit it, in fact, that he nearly caught Mark Ellis around the base paths. In the sixth he came up with runners on first and second with one out, but he hit one to the pitcher for a double play. The As went nine up and nine down next.

Notables

Matt Wieters: 2 for 4. No Oriole had an extra base hit in the game. Wieters was the only person to both drive in and score a run.

Brewers 7, Marlins 2

Moving the Needle: Prince Fielders three-run shot puts the Brewers up big, +.241 WPA. It had been a fairly familiar sight. Rickie Weeks walked and, two batters later, Ryan Braun singled. That set up a chance for Fielder, who took the first pitch deep within the wall in right. The Brewers would then add another pair within the fourth, chasing Javier Vazquez in the game and ending his short streak of excellent starts.

Notables

Logan Morrison: 3 for 4, 1 2B. He drove both in Marlins runs.

Zack Greinke: 7 IP, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K. Thats two straight without surrendering a homer for Greinke. Now were just waiting on his first scorele s start.

Rickie Weeks: 1 for 3, 1 2B, 2 BB. Hes second among MLB second basemen in wOBA, although the man in first, Howie Kendrick, is playing more LF than 2B nowadays.

White Sox 3, Mariners 1

Moving the Needle: Paul Konerko turns on one and gives the White Sox a 1-0 lead, +.121 WPA. If you throw Konerko a dangling slider, hes often likely to place it from the reach of your fielders. That happened within the fourth inning, with the game still scorele s. His homer represented the only real runs in the first six . 5 innings from the game. The Sox then came back and extended their lead in the seventh and eighth.

Notables

John Danks: 7.1 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K. How this loser figured out how to win a game title, I dont know. In any case, his xFIP is right down to 4.03, which is right around the marks hes produced in the final three years.

Carlos Quentin: 2 for 4, 2 2B. Hes hit in eight straight, going 10 for 26 with four doubles and 2 homers.

Michael Pineda: 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K. Its odd to determine such a low strikeout game from him, but it worked out regardle s. Again, the lack of offense was the killer for him.

Phillies 3, Dodgers 1

Moving the Needle: Ryan Howards single gives Kyle Long Jersey the Phillies a 2-0 lead, +.105 WPA. Both offenses took one step in that one and let the lefties do their things. Ted Lilly lost the battle, though, when he slipped up a bit within the third. A leadoff double through the No. 8 hitter set up an easy sacrifice, and then, following a walk, Placido Polanco came finished the games first run. Two batters later Howard drove in another, which makes it 2-0. The Phillies would get one more prior to the Dodgers finally got around the board within the top of the ninth.

Notables

Cliff Lee: 7 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 1 B, 10 K. Those strikeouts can be rough on the pitch count. Lee had thrown 117 after seven, which meant he couldnt continue his brilliant performance.

Carlos Ruiz: 2 for 4, 1 2B. he provided some insurance within the eighth with an RBI double.

Twin 6, Indians 4

Moving the Needle: Matt Tolbert shoots one with the right side to attain two, +.180 WPA. The theme of Tolberts hit: minimum effective dose. He came up in the second with runners on second and third with two outs and the team down by two. All he needed was a single, and thats what they got. It was pretty much struck, though, and got to Shin-Shoo Choo in a rush. The Twins had Delmon Young test his arm, a risky proposition to be sure, butYoung slid in only ahead of the tag. The Twins then grabbed charge within the fifth and didnt think back. Thats five straight for that Twins, that is pretty unbelievable given their current lineup construction.

Notables

Delmon Young: 2 for 4, 1 2B. He needs it after an agonizingly slow start. The double was of the bloop variety, landing just beyond the sliding Grady Sizemore.

Michael Brantley: 3 for 4, 1 2B, 1 HR. His numbers would look better still in CF, where he might be considered a better fit than the oft-injured Sizemore at this time.

Rockies 3, Padres 0

Moving the Needle: Alberto Gonzalez fans to finish the Padres threat within the eighth, -.193 WPA. The biggest negative swing was larger than the biggest positive swing with a pretty sizable margin within this one. The largest positive, Troy Tulowitzkis RBI single in the first, was the main difference in this one in the eighth, when Gonzalez came to the plate with the bases loaded and 2 outs. The threat would end there, though, as Matt Reynolds sent him down swinging. The Rockies then put two on the board in the ninth, which made life easier for Huston Street.

Notables

Clayton Richard: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 8 K. Last season he struck out a career-high 10 against Colorado. Eight was just fine this time.

Chris Nelson: 2 for 4, 1 2B, 1 3B. Hes were built with a quick little start to his 2011, 5 for 14 with two doubles which triple.

Clay Mortensen: 6 IP, 5 H, 0 Cyril Richardson Jersey R, 2 BB, 3 K. His ERA says 3.20, however i trust the 24:21 K/BB ratio signals a coming correction.

Royals 3, Blue Jays 2

Moving the Needle: Eric Hosmer offers the walk-off hit, +.339 WPA. Hosmer really was the main difference for that Royals yesterday. Twice he emerged in bases loaded situations, and twice he came up big. The first came in the seventh, after the Blue Jays had taken a 2-1 lead within the top half. The Royals loaded up the bases with two two-out walks. Hosmer then drew a walk of his own on four pitches, believe it or not to create home the tying run. In the 11th he dunked the first pitch he saw into shallow center, easily bringing home the winning run from third.

Notables

Mike Aviles: 1 for 4, 1 3B, 1 BB. Notable, because his triple didnt even make it to the wall. Dude was thinking three from the second he left this area, apparently.

Brandon Morriw: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 5 K. Thats a Morrow-like start, minus a few Ks.

Felipe Paulino: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 4 K. It might not function as the most sustainable performance, however the Royals did well with him to date. Thats all you can ask from the guy who got released a couple weeks ago.

Tigers 13, Rangers 7

Moving the Needle: Brennan Boesch hits his first homer from the game, +.171 WPA. Because the final score indicates, it was a slobberknocker in Texas. Boesch struck the big hits, absolutely destroying two pitches that went way over the fence. The very first was the biggest, since it arrived the first and plated three runs prior to the Rangers got an out. He then singled in his next at-bat, after which hit an RBI double in his fourth. On the day he was 5 for 6 having a double and 2 homers.

Notables

Nelson Cruz: 2 for 4, 2 HR. The Texas natives went nuts for Cruzs first homer, though it was still a 9-4 Tigers lead. He now has seven homers in 14 games since coming back from the DL.

Andy Dirks and Alex Avila: both 1 for five, 1 HR. I just desired to state that Dirks kinds reminds me of Johnny Damon, both his swing and the mannerisms within the field.

Austin Jackson: 3 for 5, 1 2B, 1 BB. He scored three runs while generally fulfilling his leadoff man obligations.

Just what's going on with DeMarcus Cousins plus the Sacramento Kings?

According to a USA Today report Friday, Kings owner Vivek Ranadive gave Cousins' agent permi sion to pursue a invest with the Lakers before Thursday's NBA draft.

MORE: Nobody deserves DeMarcus Cousins| Kings end up being patient with Cauley-Stein

That is the same Ranadive who told USA Today the day before the draft the fact Desmond King Jersey that the team had "zero interest" in moving the disgruntled center.

The most recentUSA Today report states that Ranadive gave his ble sing to Cousins' agent, Dan Fegan, to pursue a great deal with all the Lakers. Thatraises questions about Cousins' ultimate fate.

Before the draft, Ranadive shot down rumors that Cousins was headed for the Lakers at a trade from the Magic Patrick Robinson Jersey .

"We have no availability of moving him," Ranadive said. "From my perspective, it is certainly simple: we expect that he's a one-of-a-kind player, so we get a number of players at this moment and we shall expand Andre Williams Jersey on it."

Kings VP of basketball and franchise operationsVlade Divac seconded that sentiment, saying a Cousins trade, "is not happening."

Now comes the believe that Ranadive gave his ble sing to Cousins' agent to pursue a package. Question a talented Cousins wants out, and the camp is lobbying hard to get so now. And there isn't any question the Lakers are able to use his presence right in front court.

The 24-year-old Cousinsaveraged 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds per game last season Chris Hairston Jersey . Hehas several years remaining on a contract worth $47.2 million.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork. Matt Haack Jersey .com) - Norman Powell scored 23 points to help UCLA remain unbeaten at home in Pac-12 play and knock off No. 11 Utah, 69-59. The Bruins lost three players to the first round of the NBA draft in 2014 and havent been able to replace the productivity that Kyle Anderson, Jordan Adams and Zach LaVine provided. They are in the midst of one of the worst seasons in recent memory, though Thursdays upset over Utah was certainly a step in the right direction. Bryce Alford had 14 points and seven assists and Isaac Hamilton scored 11 for UCLA, which exacted revenge from an embarrassing 71-39 loss to Utah on Jan. 4. Alford went scoreless on 0-for-10 shooting in that game. We did a good job in the first half to start the game and then we were terrific in the second half, UCLA coach Steve Alford said. UCLA (12-9, 4-4 Pac-12) snapped its two-game losing skid. Delon Wright and Brandon Taylor gave 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Utes (16-4, 6-2), who may have lost more than a game. Freshman center Jakob Poeltl, one of the best young 7-footers in college basketball, left the game with an apparent foot injury. UCLA outplayed us and out-scrapped us. We only really played hard enough for about five minutes all game, Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said. Powell scored six straight points and eight total during UCLAs prolonged 12-0 run to open the second half. His layup to cap the flurry at 13:00 made it 45-30. Taylor scored their next eight points around three UCLA free throws to cut the deficit to 10, but Hamilton countered with a layup, three-point play and triple from the top of the key over the next 1 1/2 minutes to help the Bruins keep Utah at arms length. Utah led by seven points early on before UCLA stormed back to take a 33-30 lead into halftime. Game Notes Utah fell to 2-2 over its last four games following a seven-game win streak ... UCLA center Tony Parker (back) returned from a two-game absence and grabbed six rebounds ... UCLA improved to 3-0 at Pauley Pavilion against Utah since the Utes joined the PAc-12. The Bruins have won those three games by a total of 51 points. Jermon Bushrod Jersey .com) - Delon Wright made all 12 of his free throws and finished with 21 points and six assists as No. Ryan Tannehill Jersey . The team sent out a press release on Friday stating Poile was resting and recovering and that he will remain in hospital for further observation. The Predators were preparing for the game against the Wild when Poile was hit by a puck that flew off the ice at him where he was standing in a tunnel behind the bench.GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A federal judge in Michigan upheld a $1.6 million judgment against former Detroit Red Wings forward Kevin Miller for a hit from behind during a 2000 Swiss league game that ended another players career. U.S. District Judge Gordon Quist in Grand Rapids ruled in favour of a Swiss insurance company. The insurer had asked the court to recognize a Swiss courts $1.1 million judgment, which increased to $1.6 million with interest and costs. Quist said in Thursdays ruling that his court was adhering to the Uniform Foreign-Country Judgments Recognition Act. Millers hit on Canadian national Andrew McKim caused McKim to fall forward and strike his head on the ice. He was hospitalized for weeks with a concussion and other injuries. Miller previously refused to pay the Swiss courts judgment, saying he didnt think the ruling was valid. His attorney, Douglas Donnell, didnt respond to a phone message seeking comment left Saturday at his office by The Associated Press. According to The Grand Rapids Press, Miller was charged in Switzerlands Canton of Zurich in 2004 and eventtually convicted of simple bodily harm, intentional bodily harm and gross negligence. AJ Duhe Jersey. The court found him completely responsible for McKims injuries. A similar case is playing out in Canada, where a lawsuit is pending against Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi for a career-ending hit he laid on Colorado Avalanche centre Steve Moore in 2004, when Bertuzzi played for the Vancouver Canucks. Moore is suing Bertuzzi and the Canucks for $38 million over the hit, which left Moore with a concussion and three fractured vertebrae. The case is scheduled to go to trial in Toronto on Sept. 8. Bertuzzi was suspended for the rest of the regular season and the playoffs, which cost him about $502,000, and he didnt play during the 2004-05 lockout season. But he was reinstated for the 2005-06 campaign and has since continued his career, most recently with Detroit. Like Miller, Bertuzzi also faced criminal charges over the on-ice incident. He pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm and was sentenced in 2006 to a year of probation and 80 hours of community service. Subject :ST. Jordan Poyer Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Nyjer Morgan used his speed to get two key infield hit

ST. Jordan Poyer Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Nyjer Morgan used his speed to get two key infield hits early in the game. His rare long ball provided an important late run. Morgan and Michael Bourn both drove in two runs, Josh Tomlin won his second straight start and the Cleveland Indians beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 on Sunday. "He always plays with energy," Indians manager Terry Francona said about Morgan. "We were looking for a way to get him in there today and Im glad we did." Morgan had an RBI infield single that rolled to a stop near the line between home and third before Bourn hit a two-run double as the Indians took a 3-1 lead in the second. Morgan also hit his first major league homer since July 30, 2012, an eighth-inning solo shot that made it 6-2. "I had to get something out of the infield today," a smiling Morgan said. Tomlin (2-0), who pitched just once in the big leagues last season after right elbow surgery in 2012, allowed two runs and six hits over six innings in his second outing this year. "The guys made the plays in the outfield and the infield, and thats the reason I won a game," Tomlin said. Cleveland took two of three in the series after entering with a seven-game road skid. "This is a tough place to play," Francona said. "Finding a way to beat them here is great. Ive sat in this chair too many times and been miserable." Matt Joyce homered and had two RBIs for the Rays, who went 1-5 on their homestand. Chris Archer (2-2) gave up four runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. "I think very simply put, were not playing the calibre of baseball right now that is a winning calibre of baseball," Rays third baseman Evan Longoria said. A three-run eighth pulled the Rays to 6-5. Ben Zobrist scored the first run in the inning when reliever Marc Rzepczynski made an errant throw to second on what could have been an inning-ending double play. Cody Allen allowed Wil Myers RBI single and hit Desmond Jennings with a pitch to load the bases. Yunel Escobar hit a sacrifice fly. "I had plenty of time. ... I rushed it," Rzepczynski said. "When I get those, I get super excited. Throw better sinkers to second than I do home sometimes." Bryan Shaw pitched a perfect ninth in place of demoted closer John Axford for his second save. Yan Gomes hit a leadoff homer that chased Archer during a two-run sixth that gave Cleveland a 5-2 advantage. Morgan reached on a bunt single off Brad Boxberger when a call was overturned on replay. Morgan advanced on a balk and wild pitch, then scored the innings second run on Mike Aviles sacrifice fly. Joyce hit a first-inning solo homer off Tomlin. Joyce, who is 6 for 12 with two homers against the right-hander, had an RBI single in the fourth. Cleveland threatened in the first but Michael Brantley was thrown out trying to score on Carlos Santanas two-out double. Santana went 2 for 3 with two walks and increased his batting average 12 points to .148. Brantley extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a third-inning single. NOTES: Francona tweaked his rotation for a three-game series at Toronto. RHP Danny Salazar (1-3) had his start pushed back to Thursday from Tuesday so that RHP Justin Masterson (2-1) and RHP Corey Kluber (3-3) can pitch Tuesday and Wednesday on normal rest. ... Tampa Bay RHP Jeremy Hellickson (arthroscopic right elbow surgery) hopes to resume throwing curveballs during bullpen sessions in a week. ... Indians 1B Nick Swisher was given the option by Francona to have a day off and took it. ... Rays LHP Cesar Ramos (1-1) and Mariners RHP Felix Hernandez (3-1) are Monday nights scheduled starters in Seattle. ... With the Rays road trip theme being "Woodstock," manager Joe Maddon looked the part from the 1969 concert, wearing a long-hair wig, sun glasses and tie-dye shirt. John Miller Jersey . All he could do was hope they could win without him so he could play in the post-season.It was definitely rough, Ngata said Tuesday, his first day back on the field. It felt like I was in retirement watching the games, watching football during the season at home. It felt weird, but I was glad we were able to get the wins and get into the playoffs. He regrets using the amphetamine Adderall, which is used to treat narcolepsy and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Because it is often used as a stimulant, Adderall is banned by the NFL without a prescription.I made a mistake, he acknowledged. The 30-year-old Ngata is expected to start Saturday night in Pittsburgh, and he just might be more energetic than the blockers assigned to keep him off quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.I feel amazing. Guys are yelling Fresh legs all the time, Ngata said. I just feel like a young kid, being able to jog around. Its great to be back with the fellas. And they couldnt be happier to have him back.Hes one of our guys. Hes a good teammate and a good player, quarterback Joe Flacco said. Its great to see him and Terrell (Suggs) walking out to practice together. It feels good.Suggs worre a smile that almost matched Ngatas. Custom Buffalo Bills Jerseys. The two have been fixtures on the Baltimore defence since the start of the 2006 season and own matching Super Bowl rings. Both hope to add another to their collection in the weeks ahead. It couldnt happen at a better time, Suggs said of Ngatas return. He was missed a lot in the locker room, especially by me. The locker room is back to being complete. Its good to have one of the best interior linemen in the game going into a big playoff game like this. It was a big lift. The Ravens ran a light practice Tuesday, so it was difficult to tell whether Ngata is in game shape. When he showed up at the team complex on Monday, coach John Harbaugh gave the 340-pounder a playful poke in the stomach and deemed him ready to go.Im sure hes fine, the coach said. Hes been training. Thats what he told me. He looks good and Im sure he is. Im sure hes busting out of his skin, ready to go.Although thats an exaggeration, it isnt that far from the truth. Ngata is thankful his teammates did their part to get him back on the field this season, and now hes poised to pay them back.I just feel like I owe these guys, he said, so Im going to do whatever I can to help the team.Asked if he will seek to get a prescription for the drug or just stop using it, Ngata replied, Well just see what happens. Right now Im just focused on the Steelers.___Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

TORONTO -- Toronto FC will end its seven-year post-season drought and make the Major League Soccer playoffs next season, MLSE CEO Tim Leiweke promised Tuesday. Tyson Jost Jersey . The underachieving franchise finished 17th in the 19-team league with a 6-17-11 record this season. "Our soccer team is absolutely in complete disarray," said Leiweke, drawing laughs during an Empire Club luncheon speech about the future of MLSE teams and plans to improve them. But the Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment boss said change is coming. "The team we turn the quickest will be TFC and well turn them next year," he said. "Mark it down, write it down, film it .... Were going to turn TFC around and were going to make the playoffs next year. We know where were headed, we know how to get there. Weve been given the resources of this ownership group and we will get to the right place." Leiweke, who brought David Beckham to the Los Angeles Galaxy, says he knows how to work the designated player rules in the league. The soccer team has money to add designated players and still have about a third of its salary cap to sign two or three veteran MLS players. In detailing the MLSE clubs and their chances of success, he pointed to the hockey club first. "The Leafs are close," he said. Like the New York Yankees are to baseball and the Dallas Cowboys to football, the Leafs must become "the greatest hockey team in the history of the National Hockey League." "Toronto is the heart and soul of the great game of hockey," he said. Leiweke made headlines after taking over in July when he said he already had a championship parade route in his mind for the Leafs. He did not back down from that Tuesday. "I could not be more excited about the parade route and were going to throw you one, I promise," he said. Championships, he said are "not an unreasonable expectation," at MLSE. Leiweke ruffled feathers early in his tenure when he suggested some of the photos of past Leafs greats should be taken down at the Air Canada Centre. "No disrespect to the history and tradition of the 100 years of the Toronto Maple Leafs or any of the great players that have put on that jersey," he said Tuesday. "But these players know its now time to put their pictures up on the wall. Its time for us to hang Stanley Cup banners." As for the Raptors, he said it was tough to build an NBA team on the fly because of salary cap restrictions. Luck and skill are needed in drafting players, plus intelligence in signing other players. "To be honest with you, we havent done that here. And Im not blaming anybody. Now the blames on us." He dismissed the belief that NBA players dont want to come to Toronto. And he said the current roster is "ticked off" that some pundits are already writing them off. "Theyre out to prove something this year," he said of the Raptors, who open their season Wednesday. Build a winning culture and players will come to Toronto, he added. On other matters, Leiweke said: -- The chances of an NFL team coming to Toronto in the next decade are "pretty good." -- Given 17 of 19 Toronto FC games were played in rain at BMO Field this season, "weve got to put an end to that, its time to put a roof on BMO Field." -- At the requests of the city of Toronto, which owns BMO Field, MLSE is looking at whether the venue can be changed to accommodate the CFL. "The Argos are part of a conversation, not a decision thats been made." -- MLSE is looking at whether a larger block of tickets should be freed up to get some new Leafs fans in the ACC to make the venue livelier. -- The NHL needs to put hockey in the Seattle-Portland marketplace, as well as returning a team in Quebec. And that such expansion -- as well as possibly in Las Vegas and Kansas City -- is needed to grow the sport before talk of a second franchise in the Toronto area. Blake Comeau Jersey . - Diego Fagundez scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season in the 76th minute to lift the Revolution to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew on Saturday night that kept New Englands playoff hopes alive. Joe Colborne Jersey . Vonn had another scary moment at Saturdays World Cup downhill in Val dIsere, ending up clutching her knee in pain after losing her balance and missing a gate. But she gave a reassuring answer shortly afterward, saying no new damage had been done to the surgically repaired knee, and that her plans for the Sochi Olympics were still intact. PITTSBURGH -- Russell Martin has played long enough to realize that games in early June are rarely pivotal. Yet the Pirates veteran catcher admitted that Friday nights win felt good as Pittsburgh tries to stay with striking distance of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central. Martin had three hits, including a three-run double during an eight-run sixth inning, and the Pirates rolled to a 15-5 victory over the Brewers, handing nemesis Kyle Lohse his first loss since April 1. The Pirates still trail the Brewers by six games, primarily because they have gone 3-8 against Milwaukee this season. The win was Pittsburghs sixth in its last eight games. "Anytime in the season where you can just feed off each other like that, its going to be a fun time," Martin said. "Especially against a team that were trailing right now. If you can beat up on a good team, it definitely does give you confidence." Martins double keyed an inning that increased Pittsburghs lead to 13-3 and included Jose Tabata hitting two RBI singles and reliever Tyler Thornburg issuing two bases-loaded walks. The Pirates sent 13 batters to the plate. "We were able to barrel some balls and we took some walks," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "The hits were nice, the walks were kind of runaway walks. Not many pitches were close in the walk sequence, it is what it is." Lohse (7-2) had won seven consecutive decisions, the longest active streak in the major leagues, but was tagged for eight runs and nine hits in five-plus innings. He had won his last six decisions against the Pirates, dating to 2011, and pitched a three-hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs five days earlier. "I could go inning by inning about everything that went wrong but it was just one of those games where they hit good pitches and they hit bad pitches," Lohse said. "The best thing to do is forget about it and get ready for the nextt one. Adam Foote Jersey. Thats the approach I took after I threw the shutout and thats the approach this time." Rookie Brandon Cumpton (1-2) allowed three runs in 5 1-3 innings after giving up 11 runs -- the most by a major league pitcher this season -- in 3 2-3 innings in losing his previous start at the Los Angeles Dodgers last Saturday. "I really just put my head down and got back to work after that last start," Cumpton said. "I was just trusting my stuff and know its going to be there. It was great to get out there and get back on the horse." Andrew McCutchen homered and doubled for the Pirates while Jordy Mercer homered and hit an RBI single. Carlos Gomez, Aramis Ramirez and Scooter Gennett all had two hits for the Brewers. McCutchen doubled in a run and scored on Martins single in the first inning as the Pirates jumped on Lohse early. McCutchens seventh homer, a solo shot in the third, made it 3-0. NOTES: Pittsburgh LF Starling Marte, who is hitless in his last 20 at-bats, did not start for a third straight game. Tabata took his place for a second straight game. ... Milwaukee LHP Tom Gorzelanny, who is rehabbing from off-season shoulder surgery, pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings for Triple-A Nashville on Friday night against Memphis in a PCL game. Though he has allowed two runs in 14 innings in nine games, Gorzelanny likely wont be ready to be activated from the DL when his 30-day rehab assignment ends next Friday. ... Pirates RHP Stolmy Pimentel, who is on the DL with right shoulder inflammation, pitched three scoreless innings in a rehab start for Double-A Altoona against Trenton in the Eastern League. ... RHP Vin Mazzaro accepted an outright assignment by Pittsburgh to Triple-A Indianapolis after clearing waivers. He was designated for assignment May 26. ... Brewers RHP Matt Garza (3-4, 4.42) faces RHP Edinson Volquez (3-4, 4.25) on Saturday. Taipei, Taiwan (SportsNetwork. Joe Montana Jersey .com) - Inbee Park and Shanshan Feng both opened with 8-under 64s on Thursday and they share the lead after the opening round of the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship. Park reclaimed the No. 1 in the world rankings on Monday. She has two wins this season and has finished in the top 10 in each of her last seven starts. Feng earned her fourth LPGA Tour title three weeks ago at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. So Yeon Ryu had two birdies and an eagle on the first four holes around the turn to grab the lead at 9-under, but she finished bogey, double-bogey. Ryu posted a 6-under 66 at Miramar Golf Country Club and she is tied for third place with Line Vedel, Haru Nomura and Ssu-Chia Cheng. Stacy Lewis, who dropped to second in the world rankings, carded 5-under 67 and was joined there by Eun-Hee Ji and I.K. Kim. MORE TO FOLLOW. Arik Armstead Jersey .And although FIFAs investigators are preparing to release the findings of a World Cup corruption probe, Hassan Al Thawadi dismissed any chance of Qatar losing the showpiece event. Jaquiski Tartt Jersey . His team rose to the occasion Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Sweden in the bronze-medal game. A decade ago, that team conceded a miserly four goals at Euro 2004 and its successor only conceded four in qualifying to secure its place at the 2014 World Cup as Greece stayed true to its reputation for hard work and ruthless discipline at the back. That all changed when the squad arrived in Brazil. The teams much-vaunted defence was torn apart in a 3-0 defeat by Colombia, whose display of speed and style sometimes left the Greeks standing around like statues. Greece now faces Japan in Natal on Thursday in a game that could very well put either team out of contention. Japan lost to Ivory Coast 2-1 in its opener, meaning neither team can really afford another defeat if they hope to advance out of Group C. Japan advanced to the round of 16 four years ago but lost to Paraguay on penalties. Greece has bowed out in the group stage in its previous two World Cups. For Greece, the need to rebuild its solid back line will be all the more important at a World Cup that is so far seeing crowd-pleasing flair in attack and plenty of goals: 44 in the first 14 games. Colombia scored in the fifth minute, forcing Greece out of its comfort zone right from the start and attacking with speed on the flanks. Greek frustration was reflected in two of its players drawing yellow cards in the second half. "That wasnt whhat people expected," Greece forward Andreas Samaris said. NaVorro Bowman Jersey. . "I know what everyone expected of Greece though: that we would have 11 men behind the ball, defend, defend, defend and give everything to keep a clean sheet. "We went out to win against Colombia, and that philosophy will not change. We just hope it brings a better result for us because Japan is now a must, must-win game for us." Like Colombia, Japan is likely to attack at speed through the Europe-based trio of Shinji Kagawa, Yuto Nagatomo and Keisuke Honda. Against Ivory Coast, Japan had the better of the first half but ultimately struggled as the game got more physical in the second half. The arrival of the Ivorians star striker Didier Drogba as a second-half substitute also raised his teams performance and there was only a muted response from the Japanese. AC Milan midfielder Honda said that the team was determined to bounce back against Greece. "Nobody feels good about losing and obviously it was a shock," Honda, who opened the scoring with a powerful first-half strike, was quoted as saying. "But its not a shock that we lost, the thing that shocks me is we lost because we could not play to our strengths. "We gave our opponents front line too much respect. Mentally we were weak but that is not a problem that cant be fixed. A little bit more spirit can turn things around ... of course we still have an opportunity to get through the group phase." The Winnipeg Jets opened the second half of their NHL Preseason schedule in St. Mike Quick Jersey . Paul, Minnesota falling 4-3 in a shootout to the Wild. Head Coach Claude Noel told TSN 1290 following the game there were a lot of positives to take seeing they trailed at one point 2-0 in the first period. “Overall in the game I thought we were a lot better. From effort, to team play I thought we defended a lot better. We didnt panic when we were down, the players knew there was lots of time in the game and just did what they needed to do to make it a game”. Brandon product Carson McMillan and Charlie Coyle had the opening goals for the Wild, who outshot the Jets 13-8. Power play goals by Eric ODell and Paul Postma, plus an even strength goal from Patrice Cormier was the offense needed in the second period to give Winnipeg a 3-2 lead heading into the third period. Ryan Suter had the lone goal of the final period. Jason Pominville scored the only goal in the shootout, which dropped the Jets record to 1-2-2 in the preseason. The Wild have now won back to back games after losing their preseason opener to Columbus. Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom faced 31 shots, and was perfect on three attempts in the shootout, while Ondrej Pavelec made 33 of 36 saves. Coach Noel had high praise for Pavelec as well. “Minnesota really comes to the net hard and he had to battle to find pucks. I thought he played a strong game and showed some quickness”. Winnipeg was 2-for-4 on the power play, while Minnesota went 0-for-3. Suter led all players in the game with 28:43 of ice time. Rookie Jacob Trouba paced the Jets with 25:41. Trouba had one assist, was minus-1, had two shots on goal, three hits and one blocked shot. Dustin Byfuglien played 25:39, and had a team high six shots on goal. Minnesota won 68 per cent of the face offs, thanks to Coyle winning 12 of 15 and Mikko Koivu going 17-5. Next action is Monday night from Rexall Place in Edmonton with an 8:30pm ct/7:30pm et start against the Oilers on TSN 1290 and TSN Jets. Wes Hopkins Jersey . Millsap will miss Wednesday nights game against the Chicago Bulls. The Hawks say Millsap also will be held out on Thursday at Boston. Darren Sproles Jersey . Rockhold." Known as an aggressive striker, Belfort (23-10) instead paced himself as the engaged in the early going and showed restraint by not overcommitting against the larger Rockhold (10-2). But when the opportunity presented itself, Belfort delivered an incredible spinning heel kick that landed flush on Rockholds chin and sent him toppling to the floor. The Boston Bruins will be looking to even things up again tonight when they take on the Montreal Canadiens in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference second round series at the Bell Centre. Follow it live on TSN Radio 690 at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt or live on TSN.ca/Montreal. With opportunistic scoring and stellar goaltending, the Canadiens have a 2-1 series edge after a 4-2 victory over their hated rivals in front of 21,273 raucous fans on Tuesday night. P.K. Subban and Dale Weise scored on breakaways and Carey Price stopped 26 shots for Montreal, who made a two-goal advantage stand up for the first time all series. The Habs were up 2-0 in Game 1, blew it but won in double overtime, then squandered a 3-1 edge late in a 5-3 defeat in Game 2. Things were different on Tuesday, however, and the Habs can gain a stranglehold on the defending Eastern Conference champions with another home win. "You can truly dissect it and you can get into all the details, and you can say, Well, this detail wasnt taken care of," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli told reporters in Brossard on Wednesday. "Its a game of inches. You can dissect the other teams game and you could say the same thing. "At the end of the day, they scored more goals than we did and we lost. But its a game of inches and we have to be better at it. And were good at that. I think were a good team, we break out well. I think our neutral zone is good, I think our forecheck is good. It wasnt as good as it should be, but that happens. Its a long series, and well see where it goes." The Bruins may be making soome lineup changes to spark things up for tonights all-important game. Also, Carl Soderberg was not on the ice but Bruins head coach Claude Julien said he would be available for tonights game. When asked about the new line combinations, Julien responded, "It gives (the media) something to write about so you dont get bored." The team recalled big, physical winger Matt Fraser from Providence on Thursday morning and sent Justin Florek back down. The 61, 200 lb forward played in 14 games this season with the Bruins scoring two goals and tallying two fights during his NHL stint. He also scored 20 goals and 30 points in 44 regular-season games with Providence. HOUSTON - Lee Nguyen scored twice in the second half to lead the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Thursday night. Koa Misi Jersey .New England (16-13-4) is three points behind Eastern Conference leader D.C. United and three points ahead of third-place Sporting Kansas City.In the 65th minute, Nguyen received a back-pass from Kevin Alston, took one touch to elude a defender and curled in a shot. He scored his 17th goal of the season in the 87th minute. A rebound fell to Darrius Barnes and he found an open Nguyen at the top of the 6-yard box.Giles Barnes followed up Omar Cummings blocked attempt and slotted it home in the 37th minute for Houston (11-16-6).Dominic Kinnears coached his final home game with Houston after nine seasons. He announced Wednesday that he will leave at seasons end to coach the San Jose Earthquakes. Jason Taylor Jersey . The Cottagers last victory came in a 2-1 home win over West Ham when Rene Meulensteen was still in charge. Since then, a miserable run of seven defeats and two draws has seen the club part with the Dutch coach and replace him with German Felix Magath. Ja Wuan James Jersey . There is no argument that the line of Pacioretty, David Desharnais and Thomas Vanek was one of the hottest in the NHL leading into the post-season, and they did combine for three goals and seven points, but it was the depth of all four lines that helped propel Montreal.TORONTO - Jonathan Bernier came back to try and help end a losing streak. By the time the goaltender and the Toronto Maple Leafs left Air Canada Centre, they were out of a playoff spot. Bernier returned from a five-game absence and did his best to keep the Leafs in it against the St. Louis Blues. But a plethora of other mistakes against one of the NHLs top teams Tuesday night ultimately resulted in a 5-3 defeat, their sixth in a row. "Its a hard league," Blues goaltender Ryan Miller said of the Leafs struggles. "Youve got to keep it all together." Things have seemingly fallen apart in just under two weeks time. The loss, coupled with the Blue Jackets beating the Red Wings and the Capitals picking up a point against the Los Angeles Kings, dropped the Leafs out of a wild-card position. Though all four teams have 80 points, Columbus and Detroit held the wild-card spots at the end of the night, ahead of the Capitals and then the Leafs because of games played. Not long ago Toronto was second in the Atlantic Division, and now it looks like the season is slipping away. "Certainly were afraid of letting it slip away," said winger Joffrey Lupul, whose early goal was the first time Toronto opened the scoring in eight games. "The whole year weve thought we were a playoff team, and we still believe that now. ... Theres reason for concern, but its not completely time to panic. Were still right there." Winger James van Riemsdyk, whose goal at 15:54 of the third period cut the Leafs deficit to a goal, said that the team has "100 per cent" faith that things can turn around with just eight games remaining. "We have a lot of confidence in our abilities and a belief in ourselves and believe in the guys in the room," van Riemsdyk said. "This thing is obviously far from over." At some point the Leafs (36-30-8) must show that instead of just talking about it. They were unable to do that against the Blues, who passed the Boston Bruins for the top spot in the league thanks to a hat trick from David Backes and one goal apiece from T.J. Oshie and former Leafs forward Alex Steen. Though Bernier allowed four goals, his return from a groin injury was more memorable for some of the big saves he made among his 44. The 25-year-old No. 1 goalie gave his team a chance, but too much continued to go wrong in front of and around the net. Lupul said a good team is supposed to bail its goalie out and vice-versa. That didnt happen for James Reimer in the first five games of this slide, and that continued with Bernier. "When you get in a slide like this its easy to start pin-pointing individuals, which is fair, but as a group we look at it like, if theres a mistake made by someone, someone else steps up and makes a play for them," Lupul said. "And we just havent been doing quite enough of that right now." Captain Dion Phaneuf hesitated twice to clear the puck on a late-first-period penalty kill before the Blues forced a turnover and scored, then was beaten by Steen in front of the net on the fourth goal St. Louis scored. Phaneuf was not made available to speak to reporterss, leaving coach Randy Carlyle to answer for some of the defencemans poor play. Cameron Wake Jersey. "He and (Cody) Franson have been the top pairing on our blue line, as far as the offensive side of it, all year," Carlyle said. "In tonights situation, he had a rough night." Phaneuf could be blamed for at least two goals against, but he wasnt alone in having a rough night against the Blues (49-16-7), who showed early and often why theyre a Stanley Cup contender. "It was a 5-3 game where I think we couldve scored 10 goals tonight," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said in a nod to Bernier. "We had so many scoring opportunities, and I thought for the most part until we got careless and started to get fancy around the net instead of burying it that we were really playing one of our top games." During the first period, St. Louis hemmed the Leafs in their own end, putting 23 shots on net, a season high for Toronto. "I dont know," Lupul said. "We couldnt break their cycle, we couldnt get the puck." Had the Leafs managed to go into the first intermission tied 1-1, as Carlyle pointed out, they would have been fortunate. But Phaneufs mistake led to a power-play goal by Backes with 32.3 seconds left. Backes had to beat Bernier, too, but he did that twice and added an empty netter for his second career hat trick. "Theres something about this barn and this stage," Backes said. "Theres obviously a special thing about being in Toronto. The buzz in the air and everyones talking about the Leafs. Every establishments got a neon Leafs sign of some sort. This is kind of the Mecca for hockey here in Toronto." Hockey Mecca includes many more people panicking even after the Leafs lost to a much better team in the Blues. Van Riemsdyk repeatedly pointed out that the Blues are "a heck of a hockey team." Theres no disputing that, only that the Leafs couldnt find a way to end their skid. Bernier knows nothing should have to be said after this one. "If were missing motivation, at this time of the year everyone should have some," he said. "Obviously we knew it was not going to be easy. Thats a good team out there — theyre first and they showed it tonight." The Leafs showed something in trimming a three-goal deficit to one in the third period. And while thats the biggest thing theyll take from Tuesday night, its not nearly enough with the frustration building up. "Youve got to try and manage that," van Riemsdyk said. "If you play in a frustrated type of way youre no good out there. Weve got to continue to learn from things and look at the positives and kind of go from there." One positive Lupul sees is two games ahead at the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night and then back home against the Red Wings on Saturday night. "You win those two games, all of a sudden things look a lot different," he said. Until the Leafs manage to do that, things look bleak. NOTES: With Bernier back, the Leafs sent goaltender Drew MacIntyre back to the AHLs Toronto Marlies. ... Defenceman Paul Ranger was scratched for the third straight game with a neck injury. TORONTO -- Things looked bleak for the Maple Leafs, coming off a losing performance in St. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Jersey . Louis that coach Randy Carlyle termed "brain-dead" and with the league-leading Chicago Blackhawks in town. But the form sheet was thrown out the window Saturday as Joffrey Lupul and Peter Holland each scored twice and combined with linemate Mason Raymond for 11 points to lift Toronto to a commanding 7-3 win over the Stanley Cup champions. Toronto lost 6-3 to the Blues on Thursday with the scoreline flattering the losers. Toronto had played a strong game the previous night but was still beaten 3-1 by the visiting Los Angeles Kings. A 5-2 home defeat at the hands of the Boston Bruins started a three-game slide. "We really felt we needed a win," Lupul said of the Chicago contest. "Its a hard stretch for us, a lot of games in a short stretch of time so Saturday night at home with a day of rest, we came into the game feeling like it was pretty close to a must-win for us. Things were kind of starting to snowball the other way." Tied 1-1 after the first period, Toronto outscored Chicago 4-1 in the second to pull ahead for its first win in regulation time since Nov. 19, a 5-2 victory over the New York Islanders. The victory also snapped an eight-game losing streak to Chicago that dated back to February 2003. Jerry DAmigo, Nikolai Kulemin and Phil Kessel also scored for Toronto (17-14-3) before a season-high announced attendance of 19,603 at the Air Canada Center despite a cold, snowy night. Toronto outshot the opposition for just the fifth time this season, holding a 32-28 edge on the night. It was a welcome sharing on offence for the Leafs, who have had to count on their top line of Kessel, Nazem Kadri and James Van Riemsdyk in recent weeks. Lupul finished with two goals and two assists while Raymond had four assists and Holland two goals and an assist on a breakout night for the newly assembled Leafs second line. Patrick Kane, with two, and Brandon Saad replied for Chicago (23-7-5), whose league-best offence sputtered on the night. The Blackhawks had arrived riding a three-game win streak during which they had outscored the opposition 19-6. The Hawks were also 9-0-2 against Eastern Conference opposition. "We were not very good," said Chicago coach Joel Quenneville. "They were much better than us. We got what we deserved tonight. We still got ourselves back in the game, 1-1 at the start of the second period and put ourselves in a decent spot.... But basically we got what we deserved because we werent ready to play." The Leafs came into the game in a nose dive, with just two regulation wins in their last 19 outings. It was water under the bridge as they welcomed the Hawks with a season-high seven-goal scoring spree. The lack of pushback in the St. Louis performance had been a particular low for the Leafs. "They werent very proud of our performance. They knew we didnt do a lot of things that we set out to do," Carlyle said of the Blues game. "I thought our hockey club responded the way they needed to respond. They took responsibility for our actions and thats a good sign. The most encouraging thing for us tonight was our work ethic and we stuck to out system and played it." The game was Carlyles 100th as Leafs coach, improving his record at the Toronto helm to 49-40-11. Toronto captain Dion Phaneuf returned to the lineup after serving a two-game suspension for boarding Boston defenceman Kevan Miller. The Leafs revolving door kept turning, however, as forward David Clarkson was handed a two-game ban earlier in the day for an illegal hit to the head of St. Louis forward Vladimir Sobotka. Finnish rookie Antti Raanta got the start again for Chicago in the absence of the injured Corey Crawford and Nikolai Khabibulin. He was pulled from his eighth career NHL game with the score 5-2 after two periods in favour of Kent Simpson, a 21-year-old from Edmonton making his NHL debut. "I think you could say that Chicagos goalies had a rough night ... and you have to take advantage of that when it comes your way," said Carlyle. It was a horrific start for the Blackhawks, who drew three straight penalties in the first period. But some indiscipline by the home team later in the period evened the score. Toronto was on its second power-play before Chicago got its first shot on net, some seven minutes into the game. Holland made the Hawks pay for the Andrew Shaw tripping call, tapping in a Lupul feed across the crease after a nice pass by Raymond at 7:14. "Not the start we wanted, getting the penalties and getting down a goal, then probably thinking too much offence as the game went on," said Kane. "The start wasnt good, especially the first 10 minutes. Three penalties kind of takes you right out of the game. "We tried to fight back and get ourselves into it but it was too little too late." Toronto faced a 58-second five-on-three after Raymond was called for tripping behind the Chicago goal while killing off a penalty to Holland. The Blackhawks scored 29 seconds later when a sprawling Phaneuf redirected Kanes pass from the side of the net past Jonathan Bernier into the goal at 16:14. It was his 18th goal of the season and marked the eighth straight game Chicago has scored on the power play. Kane, the leagues first star in the month of November, has collected points in eight straight games and 20 of his last 21. Van Riemsdyk could have made it 2-1 near the end of the period but, with a good portion of the Chicago goal empty after a pretty passing sequence, he couldnt connect on a Kessel feed that took a nasty bounce. Toronto had the first five shots of the game but the shot count was tied at 11-11 after 20 minutes. DAmigo made it 2-1 on the Leafs 13th shot just 42 seconds into the second period when he tucked in a Kulemin rebound that dropped out of Raantas glove. It was the first goal of his six-game NHL career. Both the puck and DAmigos stick will be displayed in a frame soon. "You guys cant see it but Im just going crazy inside here now," said DAmigo. A Chicago goal minutes later was called off for being directed into the goal by a Hawks hand (and then Phaneufs stick). Holland scored his second at 12:09 of the second period, left to finish all alone after taking a nice pass from Raymond. Kane replied at 13:30, snapping a wrist shot past Bernier after a Toronto turnover in the neutral zone. But Kulemin restored the Leafs two-goal advantage at 14:36, on a low shot from a Jay McClement feed. Lupul increased the lead to 5-2 on the power play, tipping in a Jake Gardiner shot from the point for his ninth of the season at 17:08. Simpson gave up a goal on his first shot when Lupul, just 28 seconds in, beat him from the faceoff dot after doing some good digging behind the goal. Holland had a chance at his hat trick but shot wide on a breakaway. Seconds later, Saad pulled one back for Chicago with a tip-in at 7:38 for his 12th of the season. Kessel made it 7-3 at 8:35 with a quick shot from the slot for his 17th of the season. Toronto heads to Pittsburgh next for a game Monday. The Hawks return home to host Los Angeles on Sunday. Kyler Fackrell Jersey . The first of the three games will be played in Week 4, when the Oakland Raiders will take on the Miami Dolphins on Sept. Ahmad Brooks Jersey . American Lindsey Jacobellis was third, while Japans Yuka Fujimori finished just off the podium. Maltais, from Petite-Riviere-St-Francois, Que., earned bronze at the 2006 Olympic Games and is set to return to the Games this February in Sochi, Russia.OTTAWA -- Henrik Lundqvist was not quite himself on Tuesday -- but he still made his mark on the New York Rangers. Lundqvist became the winningest goalie in Rangers franchise history as New York routed the Ottawa Senators 8-4, earning his 302nd career victory to unseat Mike Richter. "Its an incredible feeling," said Lundqvist. "A proud feeling. Being up there with those guys that have played for the organization for a lot of years and the franchise has been around for so long, its kind of surreal. I want to keep going obviously and hopefully I have a lot of years left to keep winning. "Ive been lucky to play with a lot of great players and its been a great ride so far." Lundqvist has a career goals-against average of 2.27, far less than the four goals he allowed against Ottawa. Derick Brassard, Benoit Pouliot, John Moore and Ryan McDonagh all scored in the second, with the final three coming less than four minutes apart late in the period. New York took a 5-2 lead into the final 20 minutes. "In the second period I think we really took over," said Brassard. Brassard scored his first of two goals at 8:56 then Pouliot beat Ottawa netminder Robin Lehner at 15:48 after taking the puck away from Jason Spezza in the slot as the Senators captain got tangled up trying to recover a pass in his skates. "Weve been struggling scoring goals so we found a way as a group to score some goals in the second and theres where we took over," said Brassard. Moore scored at 18:44 as he shot the puck towards the goal from along the boards after crossing the blue-line into the Senators zone. McDonagh scored at the 19:44 mark when he tipped a shot in past Lehner, who allowed five goals on 26 shots and was replaced by Nathan Lawson to start the third period. Lawson allowed two goals early and was replaced by Lehner with eight minutes to play after making eight saves. "Were embarrassed. It was a must-win game for us and to give up eight is nothing but unacceptable," Spezza said. "They get the lead and we just unravel. Its kind have been the same thing all year for us. We havent been consistent enough and able to play with leads enough and it seems like tonight was a microcosm of a lot of things." Rick Nash scored a short-handed goal in the first period for the Rangers (37-29-4) while Derek Stepan, Brassard and Nash, into an empty net, scored in thhe third. Jordy Nelson Jersey. . Lundqvist made 16 saves in the second period and finished with 35 overall. Mike Hoffman and Mika Zibanejad scored first-period goals for the Senators (28-27-13), who have lost four straight and eight of their past 10. Milan Michalek and Bobby Ryan had goals in the third for Ottawa. With just 14 games remaining in the regular season the Senators trail the Rangers by nine points for the final playoff spot and there are three other teams between the two clubs. "We knew it before the game. We talked about it, we touched on it that these were four points essentially, and to give up eight at home is awful," Senators forward Bobby Ryan said with regards to the importance of the game. "Were going to have to review a lot and see but the only thing we can do is come to the rink tomorrow, maybe not with a fresh attitude but with the attitude that we have to get better in some areas, and hope that if we do the right things there is still time to clean this mess up." The night started well for the Senators as Hoffman scored on a one-timer from the point seven minutes into the game, and just seconds later they were awarded a power play when Carl Hagelin was called for hooking. Hoffman was playing the point on the power play and he got stripped of the puck at the New York blue-line by Nash who went in and beat Lehner far side. The Senators levelled their power plays four minutes later when Zibanejad scored with the man advantage sending the Senators into the first break ahead 2-1. Notes- Matt Kassian, Patrick Wiercioch and Craig Anderson were scratches for the Senators Tuesday. Scratches for the Rangers were Raphael Diaz, Derek Dorsett, Ryan Haggerty and Justin FaulkaErik Karlsson continues to lead all NHL defencemen in scoring with 61 points. He also leads the Senators in scoringaThe last time Robin Lehner started three straight games before Tuesday was back in early November. He won all three and was named the NHL first star of the weekaHenrik Lundqvist is officially the King of New York as he became the winningest goaltender in the history of the Rangers with 302 wins, one more than Mike Richter. Lundqvist is also one shutout shy of 50 for his careeraThe Rangers have not allowed a power play goal against in their past eight games prior to Tuesday and were shorthanded 21 times over that span and had scored three shorthanded goals. The road to Sochi appears to be looking better for Team Canada winger Steven Stamkos, who received encouraging news from the results of Thursdays X-ray on his injured leg. Jacob McQuaide Jersey . Stamkos suffered a broken leg 10 weeks ago and continues to rehab in hopes of returning to the Tampa Bay Lightning lineup before the Olympic break. As a result of the positive feedback from the X-ray, Stamkos will continue to ramp up both on- and off-ice workouts. All sides are hopeful Stamkos will return for two or three regular season games prior to Olympics. The Lightnings final game before the Olympic break is just over two weeks away on Saturday, February 8 against the Detroit Red Wings. Todd Gurley II Jersey . His chance at winning a Stanley Cup in Philadelphia is over. Same with Jeff Carter. And Brian Boucher. Throw in Ville Leino and Dan Carcillo. Tyrunn Walker Jersey . Henrik Samuelsson and Luke Bertolucci also scored for the Oil Kings, who are now 9-0 on home ice in the playoffs to cut Portlands series lead to 2-1. Chase De Leo and Mathew Dumba responded for the Winterhawks, who suffered just their fourth loss in their last 46 games, a string of success running all the way back to Jan."Hes human, after all," is an expression often heard when the armour of the invincible is pierced or the stoic breaks down. Anthony Calvillo, through 20 CFL seasons, was frequently invincible and largely stoic in the heat of competition. But underneath the professional exterior he was, and is, compellingly human. Those moments when he has shown that humanity are the ones I remember most vividly. On January 21, 2014, Calvillo choked up as he announced his retirement from the game which had occupied nearly half of his 41 years. He struggled to find his words while admitting he had never been more nervous in his life. He struggled some more when he thanked his wife, Alexia and daughters, Athena and Olivia. The same held true when he said how much he will miss his teammates, past and present. He was nearly overcome with emotion when he mentioned his late friend, Mike Dawson, who had passed away scant weeks ago. His decades-long association and friendship with general manager and head coach Jim Popp caused the Alouettes executive to break down, almost uncontrollably, once Popp had started to deliver his tribute to Calvillo. Calvillos retirement announcement marked the end of his playing career, but during that storied journey, there were glimpses into the soul of the man which remain indelible in my memory. In late October 2007, Calvillo cried in a media scrum on the practice field outside Olympic Stadium when he revealed that Alexia had been diagnosed with b-cell lymphoma, one week after she gave birth to the couples second daughter, Olivia. The happy ending, of course, was that Alexia would beat her cancer. Seconds after winning his third Grey Cup in November 2010, Calvillo cried during a live interview with TSNs Farhan Lalji as he finally unburdened himself of a secret he had kept for three months: a cancerous lesion was growing on his thyroid gland. The lesion was detected after he sustained an injured sternum in a game against the Blue Bombers on August 20. Only his family and closest friends and teammates knew of his illness while he guided his team to and through the Grey Cup. Joy, relief, trepidation. All were on display once the final gun had sounded in Edmonton that night. Michael Brockers Jersey. A surgical procedure to remove the lesion the following month would lead to another happy ending in the Calvillo familys fight against cancer. My most lasting memory of Calvillo came eight days after he had leapt over Damon Allen to become pro footballs all-time leading passer on Thanksgiving Day in 2011; not the moment itself, even though I was the sideline reporter standing only 70 yards from the decisive catch-and-run by Jamel Richardson which vaulted Calvillo to the pinnacle of his profession. On October 18, Calvillo was invited by the Montreal Canadiens to a game at the Bell Centre so the crowd could acknowledge him for his historic achievement. After the fans in attendance gave him a thunderous standing ovation prior to puckdrop, Calvillo and his family were taken upstairs to watch the game from a luxury box. I was working rinkside for the NHL on TSN broadcast that night, so we secured an in-game interview with him in the suite. It was during that interview that I was privy to Anthony Calvillo -- the family man and the player -- encapsulated in one fleeting moment. Midway through Calvillos answer to one of my questions, Athena (who was six-years old at the time) sidled up to her Dad and planted a kiss on his right cheek. Without breaking stride, Calvillo continued and completed his answer. His legendary focus which was unshakeable under pressure from defensive front 7s for two decades shone in that moment, as did the fibre of his family. A child raised in a deeply caring, nurturing family didnt hesitate to show her playfulness, innocence and adoration of her Dad -- regardless of the circumstances. National audience? Were you on TV, Dad? Waivers. Redemption. Concussions. Championships. Tears. Laughter. Transcendent athlete. Despite the accolades and his place in the history of the game, Calvillo describes himself as a regular guy. At home, he takes out the garbage. He changed his daughters "poopy diapers" when they were infants. Anthony Calvillo. Hes human, like us all. John Lu is TSNs Montreal Bureau Reporter and has covered the Alouettes and Anthony Calvillos career since 2007. Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork. Buffalo Bills Jerseys .com) - Kevin Love and LeBron James each delivered monster efforts to get the Cleveland Cavaliers back on track via a 97-88 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Kyrie Irving added 16 points to help Cleveland drop the Hornets to 1-10 on the road. Olynyk shot 12-of-17 from the field and was a plus-29 off Bostons bench, which outscored the Sixers reserves, 61-31. Avery Bradley added 15 points while Brandon Bass and Jeff Green each finished with 14 for the Celtics, who scored 32 points off 23 turnovers en route to snapping a three-game skid. The Sixers remained winless at home (0-13) and have dropped four straight since picking up their second win at Detroit. Nerlens Noel poured in a career-best 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a losing cause. Final Score: Atlanta 93, Chicago 86 Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Al Horford totaled 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as the Atlanta Hawks picked up their first win over the Chicago Bulls in nearly two years with a 93-86 victory. Paul Millsap chipped in 17 points while Jeff Teague added 12 with seven assists for the Hawks, who had dropped six straight against the Bulls since besting them on Dec. 22, 2012. Atlanta bounced back from having its nine-game winning streak snapped at Orlando over the weekend by forcing 16 turnovers and holding the Bulls to 37.6 percent shooting. Jimmy Butler led Chicago with 22 points, while Taj Gibson scored 15 with 17 rebounds in a losing effort. The Bulls had won three straight coming in. Final Score: Toronto 95, Orlando 82 Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Lou Williams 18 points and a strong second half enabled the Toronto Raptors to pull away for a 95-82 victory over the Orlando Magic at Air Canada Centre. The Raptors stepped up on the defensive end to overcome a 52-44 halftime deficit, holding Orlando to a mere 30 points while forcing 12 turnovers over the final two quarters to earn their 10th straight win over the Magic. Williams and Kyle Lowry each made big impacts as well, with the latter tallying 11 of his 17 points after intermission in addition to dishing out eight assists. Tobias Harris led Orlando with 18 points but had only four in the second half. Ben Gordon finished with 16 points in the loss, with Nikola Vucevic posting 13 points and nine rebounds. Micah Hyde Jersey . -- During Kansas shootaround on Wednesday before the Jayhawks faced Oklahoma, coach Bill Self told Wayne Selden Jr. E.J. Gaines Jersey . Fielder has been out with a herniated disk in his neck, and surgery was recommended after a follow-up exam and another scan Thursday with Dr.HOUSTON -- Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon is thrilled about how Chris Young has fit into his rotation after the Mariners picked him up after he was released by Washington in March. "I dont know where we would be without him," McClendon said. "Hes done a tremendous job for us and (Wednesday) was no different." Logan Morrison drove in two runs in Seattles big sixth inning, Young pitched seven strong innings and the Mariners beat the Houston Astros 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep. The 35-year-old Young has bounced back after missing the 2013 season after shoulder surgery. His eight wins are second on the team behind ace Felix Hernandez and he has a 3.11 ERA. Its the first time hes won eight games since winning nine in 2007. The Mariners were down by two before a four-run sixth inning, highlighted by Morrisons double to right field off Brad Peacock (2-5) that put them on top. James Jones scored on a wild pitch in the inning and John Buck had an RBI single. Young (8-4) allowed two hits -- both solo homers -- and struck out a season-high eight. It was his most strikeouts since he fanned nine against Colorado in 2012. Fernando Rodney pitched a scoreless ninth for his 24th save. "For the most part I made very good pitches," Young said. "I kept them off balance, really had two good off-speed pitches today and good fastball command. I was pleased." Marwin Gonzalez and rookie Kike Hernandez homered for the Astros. Hernandez has three hits and two RBIs in two games since being called up from the minors. Dustin Ackley had three hits for the second straight game after snapping an 0-for-21 skid on Tuesday night, and Jones had a hit to finish the series with eight hits, six runs and two RBIs. Seattle has scored 11 runs in the sixth inning in the last two games after managing just 31 runs in that inning in the first 83 games this season. The Mariners couldnt get anything going against Peacock until the sixth inning. Jones got things started with a single with one out, and Peacock plunked Cano and walked Kyle Seager on four pitches to load the bases. Jones cut the lead to one when he scored on a wild pitch, and Morrisons two-run double gave Seattle a 3-2 lead. Bucks run-scoring ssingle pushed the lead to 4-2 and chased Peacock. O. J. Simpson Jersey. . "He just lost command," manager Bo Porter said. "Lost command of the strike zone. He was in a complete groove and what we felt like complete control of the game then had the hit batter where he held on to a cut fastball too long and then was not able to get back in the zone." Peacock allowed six hits and four runs in 5 1-3 innings. He was replaced by Anthony Bass, who was making his first appearance since May 10 after being reinstated from the disabled list on Wednesday. Bass allowed a single by Ackley with two outs before retiring Brad Miller to end the inning. Robinson Cano hit a two-out double in the seventh and scored on a single by Kyle Seager to push the lead to 5-2. Young didnt allow a hit until Gonzalezs homer to right field with one out in the third inning. It was the second home run of the series for Gonzalez, who recently became Houstons everyday shortstop when opening day starter Jonathan Villar was optioned to Triple-A. He got right back on track after that, retiring the next seven batters. Houstons didnt get another hit until the home run by Hernandez with two outs in the fifth made it 2-0. Young has given up 14 home runs this season, which leads the team, but 11 of those homers have been solo shots. Peacock allowed a single to Dustin Ackley with two outs in the second inning before retiring the next six batters. John Buck singled with two outs in the fourth, but Peacock still faced the minimum in that inning when he was out trying to stretch it into a double. Jose Altuve grabbed the less-than-perfect throw from rookie left fielder Domingo Santana and crawled to the bag for the out. Peacock threw a perfect fifth inning and struck out Endy Chavez to start the sixth before the trouble began. NOTES: The Mariners are off Thursday before opening a series with the White Sox on Friday. ... The Astros begin a four-game series against the Angels on Thursday. ... Houston optioned LHP Kevin Chapman to Triple-A Oklahoma City to make room for Bass on the roster. ... (AP) — Colin Wilson had two goals and two assists and Craig Smith added a power-play goal to lead Nashville. The Predators lost goalie Pekka Rinne, who leads the NHL with 29 wins, to a lower-body injury in the third period. He had stopped 20 of 21 shots before being replaced by Carter Hutton.Filip Forsberg and Mike Fisher also scored for Nashville, winners of four straight. Mike Ribeiro had two assists.Rinne was hurt when Vancouver forward Chris Higgins drove toward the Predators net and became entangled with Nashville defenceman Anton Volchenkov. The pair then collided with Rinne, and their momentum carried the Finn into the end boards.Alexander Edler had the lone goal for Vancouver, which has lost its last three. Spencer Drango Jersey . Im very excited about the playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference with amazing match-ups, as well as the wonderful local story in the Toronto Raptors. It should be a blast. Here are my predictions, but based upon my lousy prognostications during the NCAA Tournament, you might be better off going the other way on some of mine - particularly with the Raptors, who I hope and pray are able to win an incredibly difficult match-up. Jamie Collins Jersey . Campbell, playing on loan with Greek club Olympiacos, found the net with a left-footed shot in the 44th minute off a pass from second-half substitute Jorge Rojas to open the scoring at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.MILAN, Italy -- Atletico Madrid struggled throughout but managed to win 1-0 at AC Milan thanks to a late Diego Costa header in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on Wednesday. Diego Costa headed in Gabis corner seven minutes from time to secure victory ahead of the return match in Madrid on March 11. "We know that at Madrid it will be another game, which will also be important and very difficult," Milan coach Clarence Seedorf said. "Atletico dont change much whether theyre playing at home or away from home. "We have time to prepare the return leg and well have more players back. Im proud of what we did tonight... I saw a lot of positive things on the pitch." Bayern Munich won 2-0 at 10-man Arsenal in the other match of the night. Both teams missed a penalty in the first half, which also saw Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny sent off. Milan had dominated the match with its best performance of the season, hitting the woodwork three times in an entertaining first half hour. "We are a normal team, a very humble one which tries to do as well as we can," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said. "We started better but then Milan caused us problems. "We didnt have many chances but as you know in football what matters is scoring goals and fortunately we scored a goal." Spains joint league leader was the overwhelming favourite but Milan was the superior side and had the better chances in Seedorfs first Champions League match as a manager. The Dutchman is the only player to have won the competition with three different clubs. There was more bad news on the night for Milan as star striker Mario Balotelli went off clutching his shoulder 12 minutes from time. The Italy forward will have tests on Thursday. Milan was boosted by key playmaker Kaka recovering from injury in time and the Brazilian was given the captains armband. Kaka overcame a bout of flu to play in Fridays 1-0 victory over Bologna but had to be replaced 10 minutes from time after injuring his rigght ankle. Cleveland Browns Jerseys. Stephan El Shaarawy, Valter Birsa, Robinho, Bryan Cristante and Cristian Zapata were all out with injury while Sulley Muntari and captain Riccardo Montolivo were both suspended. New signing Keisuke Honda is cup tied. Milan was the underdog after a miserable season which saw coach Massimiliano Allegri sacked at the beginning of the year. The side is ninth in the Serie A table and had been eliminated in each of its past four knockout ties against Spanish opposition. It appeared as if Milans fears were to be realized as the players struggled to get out of their own half in the opening 10 minutes. However, Milan was containing Atletico and slowly began to get into the game. Balotelli had the first real chance of the match with a 30-meter free-kick from roughly the same position that he scored a stunning goal from on Friday. But the Italy forward fired well wide of the left post. Milan went even closer four minutes later with a wickedly swerving shot from Kaka from the bottom corner of the penalty area which crashed off the crossbar. Atletico goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois -- who is on loan from Chelsea -- pulled off a stunning save shortly afterwards, fingertipping Andrea Polis header off the base of his right post after a great cross from Adel Taarabt. Tension was beginning to escalate at San Siro and a touchline brawl threatened to erupt following a poor Emiliano Insua tackle on Mattia De Scglio. The Milan defender had to be replaced by Ignazio Abate. Milan again went close on the half hour when Balotelli backeeled the ball to Kaka, whose effort scraped the top of the crossbar. Milan continued to dominate after the break and Kaka again went close with a drive narrowly past the left upright, while Michael Essien headed a corner wide. All Milans good work was to come to nothing, though, as Diego Costa headed powerfully home at the far post for his fifth goal in four Champions League matches. Milan almost snatched a draw but Adil Ramis free kick whistled wide of the left post. LOS ANGELES -- A few minutes after John Gibson finished his NHL playoff debut by shutting out a vaunted post-season power, the Anaheim Ducks rookie goalie barely seemed to register a pulse, let alone any visible excitement. Adam Thielen Jersey . The Ducks were plenty excited for him after another surprising twist in their playoff run left them even with the Kings. Gibson made 28 saves, captain Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and an assist, and Anaheim evened its second-round post-season series with a 2-0 victory over Los Angeles in Game 4 on Saturday night. Devante Smith-Pelly also scored in the first period and Corey Perry had two assists for the top-seeded Ducks, who bounced back from two series-opening losses at home with consecutive victories at Staples Center. Anaheim regained momentum with a dynamic performance from a calm, collected 20-year-old goalie who was stopping pucks in Newfoundland three days earlier. "I think theres always nerves, but youve always got to learn to control them," said Gibson, widely considered the best goaltending prospect in hockey. "After the first five minutes, I settled down." If Gibson actually had any nerves, nobody noticed them while he became the youngest goalie in NHL history to record a shutout in his playoff debut. Game 5 is Monday night in Anaheim. Anaheim started its third goalie in three games with the dramatic entrance of Gibson, who made 39 saves in an AHL playoff game more than 4,400 miles east of Los Angeles on Wednesday night. He coolly backstopped the Ducks even while the final 40 minutes were largely dominated by the Kings. "He just goes about his business," said Smith-Pelly, Gibsons teammate for much of the AHL season. "Ive watched him all year. You would think there would be some nerves, but there were none. It was just like any other game. Hes one of the more laid-back guys around." Gibson, from Pittsburgh, made his NHL debut with three victories late in the regular season, and he got the Game 4 start from coach Bruce Boudreau in place of veteran Jonas Hiller, who started the first two games against Los Angeles and finished Game 3 after Frederik Andersen injured his right leg. "As soon as we called him up, I thought about it," Boudreau said. "Hes been playing, and he gives us the best chance to win." The visitor has dominated the series between teams separated by 30 miles on the I-5 freeway, and Anaheim ramped up its defence downtown to even the series -- even with a revolving door in both creases in Game 4. Jonathan Quick allowed two goals in the first period for the Kings before getting replaced by rookie Martin Jones, who faced just three shots. After a dismal first period by Los Angeles, Jones replaced the Conn Smythe Trophy-winning Quick in coach Darryl Sutters apparent attempt to wake up the Kings, who then held the Ducks without a shot in the second period. "The thought process was that we had given up two goals," Sutter said. "We should have done it sooner. They were scared to shoot (at Jones)." After losing twice at home to open the series, the Ducks took control of both games at Staples Center with first-period goals. Smith-Pelly, who replaced injured Matt Beleskey on Anaheims top line, pushed past Drew Doughty into the Kings zone and converted a pass from Perry for his third goal of his first NHL playoff run. Getzlaf had the second assist, and he got his own goal on a power play 2:43 later on his 29th birthday. The Anaheim captain threw the puck into Quicks crease from behind the net, and it banked off the Kings and in for Getzlafs team-leading fourth goal of the post-season. "We certainly have to do more in the offensive zone," said Kings centre Anze Kopitar, whose points streak ended at 10 games. "We could barely generate anything on that first power play, and it kind of set us back. They score the two goals, and second and third (periods) we were in their zone, but weve just got to make it tougher on them." Anaheim had never played a shot-free period in its playoff history, and Los Angeles had never held a playoff opponent without a shot for a full period until the second. The Ducks played more than 25 1/2 minutes without a shot until a power play created by Kopitars double minor for high-sticking Andrew Cogliano early in the third. Gibson made several big saves in the final minutes, stopping Kopitar, Jake Muzzin and Tyler Toffoli during one spectacular sequence. NOTES: The Kings allowed no shots in a period for just the second time in franchise history, matching a regular-season game against St. Louis in 1978. ... Los Angeles hadnt been shut out in the playoffs since the 2012 Western Conference finals. ... Getzlaf has five multi-point performances in nine playoff games. He was the NHLs second-leading scorer in the regular season. ... Game 6 is back at Staples Center on Wednesday. ... French chef Ludo Lefebvre was shown on the Staples Center scoreboard preparing roast duck during the first intermission. Teddy Bridgewater Jersey . Defoe maintained his status as the sole goal scorer of the team, netting his third of the season, while Bradleys midfield presence and decisive passing continues to impress. Subject :BALTIMORE -- Bud Norris set his sights on the first complete game of his career until a blister on h

BALTIMORE -- Bud Norris set his sights on the first complete game of his career until a blister on his pitching hand forced him to exit the game. Max Tuerk Jersey . The right-hander, nonetheless, still managed his most dominant performance this season. Norris pitched eight innings of three-hit ball and Adam Jones hit one of the Baltimore Orioles three home runs in a 4-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night. Nick Markakis and Ryan Flaherty also connected for the Orioles. Norris (5-5) struck out six and walked three while matching the longest outing of his career. Coming in, he had given up four or more runs in four of his past five starts. The blister is not expected to affect Norris next outing, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter did not want to take any chances. "Its an awkward spot for me, but Ive got to take care of it the next couple days and I know how to maintain it and so forth," Norris said. So I think it was a precautionary reason. I understand hes the skipper and hes going to make decisions, Im OK with that." Boston has lost six of its past seven games after a season-high seven game winning streak. The Red Sox have been shut out five times this season. Jones had three hits, including his 150th career homer. Markakis extended his hitting streak to 14 games with two hits. "I feel good up there, but the outcome aint going to be there sometimes," Markakis said. "Im seeing the ball well and putting good swings on it. Kind of trying not to change anything. Stick with your same approach, stick with whats working." Boston right-hander Jake Peavy (1-4) allowed four runs and eight hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Peavy has given up three or more runs in seven consecutive starts and hasnt won since April 25 against Toronto. "Take a few pitches back and its a different game," Peavy said. "I dont care about my personal win-loss record. I dont care about any personal numbers at this point. Im pitching to win. I was pitching to win tonight. But we were grinding. Thats a really good lineup." After allowing a leadoff single to Brock Holt in the first, Norris retired 13 consecutive batters. Daniel Nava managed Bostons second hit with a two-out double in the fifth. "As well as Norris was pitching, he stayed out of the middle of the plate and had very good stuff, one run was going to be the difference the way this one turned out," Boston manager John Farrell said. "We couldnt put too much together in any one inning." Jones gave the Orioles a lead in the first with his 10th homer. "Im trying to use the whole field," Jones said. "Im trying to not limit myself to just pulling the ball. Thats how I get in trouble. Just trying to use the whole field. If its in, try to pull it. If its away, try to stay on it. Not rocket science, but some sort of science." Baltimore then increased the lead to 3-0 that same inning when Markakis hit a two-run shot off Peavy onto the flag court. Flahertys solo shot in the seventh provided further cushion. Tommy Hunter, who came off the disabled list Sunday, threw a scoreless ninth. The Orioles improved to 24-9 when scoring four or more runs. Orioles starters have often failed to get deep into games this season. Both Chris Tillman and Ubaldo Jimenez failed to get through the third inning over the past four days. Showalter said arms were available in the bullpen, he lauded Norris for going deep into the game. "Bud was really good," Showalter said. "Id have probably given him a chance to finish that game." NOTES: Showalter said he expects to hear by Tuesday if Manny Machado will be suspended for throwing his bat Sunday against Oakland, igniting a benches-clearing confrontation. Machado apologized for the incident on the team-owned television network. ... Baltimore recalled RHP Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned RHP Brad Brach to the minor league club. To make room for Stinson on the 40-man roster, LHP Johan Santana was transferred to the 60-day DL. ... Orioles C Matt Wieters (right elbow strain) will be examined by specialist Dr. James Andrews on June 16 in Florida. ... Red Sox LHP Felix Doubront (left shoulder) is scheduled to have a second rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Pawtucket. ... SS Stephen Drew (right oblique soreness) was held out of the lineup Monday and is day to day. ... With a first-inning single, Holt has reached base in 17 of 18 starts as the leadoff hitter. Dontrelle Inman Jersey .com) - Guard Greivis Vasquez and forward Patrick Patterson, two key pieces to the Toronto Raptors run to an Atlantic Division title in 2013-14, were both given qualifying offers by the team on Saturday. Jeremiah Attaochu Jersey . - The Cleveland Indians will place centerfielder Michael Bourn on the disabled list before their opener at Oakland on March 31.MADRID, Spain -- Karim Benzemas goal gave Real Madrid a 1-0 first-leg victory over title holder Bayern Munich on Wednesday, but the nine-time champions may live to regret the missed chances in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal. Madrid endured plenty of pressure in the first leg match, but scored from a 19th-minute counter-attack. Cristiano Ronaldo found Fabio Coentrao speeding down the left flank and Benzema steered his low cross past goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Ronaldo returned from a left leg injury but missed a number of scoring opportunities before eventually giving way to Gareth Bale, who had started on the bench after battling with flu. Bayern pressed for an equalizer in the closing stages, forcing Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas to deny Mario Goetze in the 84th minute while fellow substitute Thomas Mueller had no better luck with his late effort from inside the area. But Madrid should have extended its lead ahead of Tuesdays return leg in Germany, as the team bids to end a three-season semifinal losing streak and reach the final for the first time since winning in 2002. "If you want to do damage, you have to go for the victory -- because 1-0 is not definitive," Madrid defender Sergio Ramos said as he looked ahead to a tough second leg match. "But its a good result to take to Munich." Atletico Madrid or Chelsea await in the May 24 final in Lisbon, with the pair playing to a scoreless draw in their first-leg match on Tuesday. Pep Guardiola endured his first loss at the Bernabeu as coach after seven previous visits with Barcelona, and at times the encounter took on the appearance of a "clasico" with Madrid looking to capitalize on the break while the visitors controlled play. "Madrid thrives off the counter attack, Madrid is the best team in the world on the counter," Guardiola said. "They get back as fast as they go forward, theyre athletes." Madrids defence did well to contain Bayern in its area and then break quickly, but the Spanish club squandered its other chances after Benzema broke the ddeadlock. Denzel Perryman Jersey. . Ronaldo, who looked uncomfortable at times despite passing a late fitness test, followed up a sharp header at Neuer with a first-time shot from Luka Modrics perfect pass in the 26th minute -- only for his effort to fly high over the top with just the Germany keeper to beat. Madrid dug in and did well to clear many of Bayerns best opportunities as it controlled three-quarters of possession in the first half. The German champions found space between the lines and combined some swift passing movements, with Franck Ribery picking out Arjen Robben inside the area in the 39th. But Madrid weathered each buildup before surging forward, with Angel Di Maria gathering a loose ball at the right post only to wildly shoot over Neuer before halftime. After the break, Neuer had to dive low to keep out Ronaldos angled shot after a Bayern defensive mix-up. Ronaldo forced Neuer into another low save before giving way to Bale, who energized Madrids attack with his pace. The Welshman was playing for the first time since his stunning winner in Madrids 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final. "Its been 20 days Cristiano hasnt been 100 per cent, so it was a sacrifice for him. It couldnt have been easy for Cristiano tonight," said Ancelotti, who remained unbeaten against Bayern with his fifth win in seven meetings. "But Cristiano and Bale will be 100 per cent" for the return, the Italian coach added. Guardiola brought on Mueller and Goetze for the final quarter and Mueller nearly equalized with a rising shot in the 81st. A chance then fell to Goetze in the Madrid area but Casillas reacted well to stop the Germans powerful volley. "They had chances to score more goals, definitely," said Guardiola. "We probably should have created a few more scoring chances. (But) they have a very good defence." Bayern had gone 29 matches without scoring coming into the 20th meeting between the storied European rivals, and will still rate its chances of reaching a third straight final with the return leg at home. Capturing the World Cup will have to wait. Just like four years ago, the United States is going home after the round of 16, beaten when Belgium scored twice in extra time Tuesday and then held on for a 2-1 win. "Thirty-one teams get their heart broken," goalkeeper Tim Howard said. "It has to end sometime. It ended a little bit early for us." Playing the finest game of his career, Howard stopped a dozen shots to keep the Americans even through regulation and force an additional 30 minutes. He wound up with 16 saves -- the most in the World Cup since FIFA started keeping track in 2002. Before exiting, the U.S. showed the spunk that won Americas attention. The Belgians built a two-goal lead when Kevin De Bruyne scored in the 93rd minute and Romelu Lukaku in the 105th. But then Julian Green, at 19 the third-youngest player in the tournament, stuck out his right foot to volley in Michael Bradleys pass over the defence in the 107th, two minutes after entering. "I was sure that we would make the second goal and we would go to the penalty shootout," Green said. The Americans nearly did. In the 114th, Clint Dempsey peeled away on a 30-yard free kick by Bradley, who passed ahead to Chris Wondolowski. He fed Dempsey, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois bolted off his line to block the 6-yard shot. At the final whistle, the U.S. players fell to the field in their all-white uniforms like so many crumpled tissues. "They made their country proud with this performance and also with their entire performance in this World Cup," said Jurgen Klinsmann, the former German World Cup champion who took over as coach three years ago. The Americans advanced from a difficult first-round group to reach the knockout rounds of consecutive World Cups for the first time. Four years ago, they were eliminated by Ghana 2-1 on a goal in the third minute of extra time. "Getting to the round of 16, if we dont do that, were very, very disappointed," U.S. Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati said. "We get here and its kind of the swing game. We get beyond here, then its generally viewed as very successful -- this year was a little different because of the group we had in the first round, so that already was a success." The crowd of 551,227 at Arena Fonte Nova appeared to be about one third pro-U. Jerrell Freeman Jersey. S., with 10 per cent backing the Belgians and the rest neutral. Back home, millions watched in offices, homes and public gatherings that included a huge crowd at Chicagos Soldier Field. President Barack Obama joined about 200 staffers in an Executive Office Building auditorium to watch the second half. "I believe!" he exclaimed as he walked in at the front of the hall. "I believe!" Belgium outshot the U.S. 38-14. The 35-year-old Howard kept the ball out with slides, with dives and with leaps. But he never felt it was his special night. "If this continues, then were in trouble," he recalled thinking. With forward Jozy Altidore still not recovered from the strained hamstring that had sidelined him since the June 16 opener, Klinsmann inserted Wondolowski as a second striker in the 72nd minute. He appeared to have a chance to win it in stoppage time when Jermaine Jones flicked the ball to him at the top of the 6-yard box, but with Courtois coming out, Wondolowski put the ball over the crossbar. While the linesman put out his flag, it was unclear whether he was signalling goal kick or offside. In the third minute of extra time, Matt Besler tried to intercept a pass to Lukaku but fell down as the Belgian striker fought free. Lukaku sped in alone, crossed, and the ball rebounded off defender Omar Gonzalez. Kevin De Bruyne controlled it, took three touches as he spun and beat Howard just over his right foot. "I thought I could make a play on the ball. I took a shot and missed and lost my balance," Besler said. Twelve minutes later, with the U.S. pushing for an equalizer, Bradleys shot was blocked and De Bruyne burst ahead on a counter. He fed Lukaku, who sent the ball over the left shoulder of Howard, his Everton teammate, and seemingly put the game out of reach. But Green, among five German-Americans on the U.S. roster and a surprise pick, woke up the team and its fans with his first touch, setting off raucous chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" There would be no final comeback this time, though. Bradley said the Americans had told themselves that regardless of when their run ended, they wanted to abandon their defensive style of the past. "We wanted to go home going for it," he said. "And," he added with satisfaction, "we did." WENGEN, Switzerland -- Patrick Kueng gave his home Swiss fans a lot to cheer about by winning the shortened Lauberhorn downhill Saturday. E. J. Manuel Jersey . Kueng clocked 1 minute, 32.66 seconds down a course that had more than a minute of racing and signature features cut off due to strong winds, to earn his second World Cup victory -- and first in downhill. Hannes Reichelt of Austria finished second, 0.06 seconds behind, and overall World Cup leader Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway was third, only one more hundredth further back. "Its incredible," said Kueng, who is the fourth different Swiss winner in six years in the countrys signature sports event. "Its very special for me. I think its the best place to win a race." Reichelt said he lost crucial time in the bumpy s-turns into the finish area, though praised Kueng as a worthy winner. "(Patrick) was very consistent this season. It was just time until he got the victory," said Reichelt, adding wryly that he was "getting closer" after placing third last year. Erik Guay of of Mont-Tremblant, Que., who won the final training session Thursday, lost control after appearing to hit a bump midway down and skied off course. Bode Miller finished fifth, 0.35 back, after making a big mistake in the same spot that troubled Reichelt. Millers American teammate Jared Goldberg placed 12th with a starting number of 40. Lower-ranked skiers were still coming down. Kueng joined a Wengen winners roll that includes his more heralded teammates Didier Defago (2009), Carlo Janka (2010) and Beat Feuz (2012). Kueng, who turned 30 last weekend, is having a breakout season. He won a super-G in Beaver Creek, Colorado, last month for his first career win and has also recorded two fifths -- in the Lake Louise, Alberta, super-G; and the Beaver Creek downhill; and was sixth in the downhill in Val Gardena, Italy. "Hats off to Kueng, hes been skiing amazing this season. Its really not a surprise to the racers," said Marco Sullivan of the U.S., who was 16th trailing by 0.99. The course missed top sections -- including the signature Hundschopf cliff face jump -- that usually favour pure downhill racers, and became more suited to technical, super-G specialists. Svindal now leads two-time defending champion Marcel Hirscher by 82 points in the overall standings. In the downhill rankings, Svindal leads with 360 points, Reichelt is next with 260 and Kueng is third with 221. A slalom is scheduled for Wengen on Sunday, then the mens circuit heads to Kitzbuehel, Austria, for the famed Hahnenkamm races next weekend. Aldon Smith Jersey . - Jesse Shynkaruk scored a hat trick as the Moose Jaw Warriors snapped a seven-game losing streak with an 8-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action on Saturday. Keith McGill Jersey . Span, Danny Espinosa and Adam LaRoche had two hits apiece as Washington won the final two games of the series. The Nationals improved to 3-7 against Atlanta. They increased their division lead over the Braves to 1 1/2 games. MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- Kurt Buschs Sunday at Martinsville Speedway, in some ways, was like his career wrapped into one afternoon. It started with a pit road confrontation with Brad Keselowski, one that had Busch threatening over his radio to rearrange Keselowskis face when the race was finished, and ended with Busch ending an 83-race victory drought. The victory was his first for Stewart-Haas Racing, in just their sixth race together, suggesting that it could prove a very productive partnership, and one that a reflective Busch said he has learned to approach with a more mature attitude. "I ran a lot of my early part of my career as an individual and I didnt respect my team, my team owners," Busch said, adding that having Tony Stewart as a team owner has helped him learn the value of better team communication. Celebrating in Victory Lane also was emotional, too, because he got to do it for the first time with his son, Houston. "It was pretty emotional. To see him starry eyed and not knowing what he needed to do and I was directing him where he needed to stand and where he could see it all better and put him up on stage," Busch said, his voice cracking. "And to have him break down in tears, it got me crossed up because Ive been trying to deliver for him ... It kind of took it to a new level." Busch did it by passing Martinsville master Jimmie Johnson for the lead with 10 laps to go and holding off the eight-time winner to win at the track for the first time since October 2002. It was his 25th career Cup-level victory, and that it came in the most unlikely of places suggested to Busch that hes finally in the right place, team-wise and personally. "Youve got to put life in perspective, and you have to learn from your mistakes and you cant just sit there and try to muscle your way individually through certain situations," he said. "And so you rely on your experience level, you rely on your team, and this is a great day for me to be able to lift the trophy in Victory Lane for Stewart-Haas Racing." Johnson, with eight wins in 25 career starts on the 0.526-mile oval, led 11 times for 296 laps. He seemed on his way to another victory when he took the lead from Busch with 17 laps remaining. But Busch stayed close, ducked underneath Johnson seven laaps later and Johnson had nothing left to make a run at the lead, making for a polite-looking finish. DeAndre Washington Jersey. "Thats all I had," Johnson said. "Man, I ran the rear tires off the car. I flipped every switch and knob I could in there to get front brake and turns fans off and try to help bring my balance back." Just ahead, Busch wasnt sure he could hang on. He hadnt finished in the top 10 in his last 16 starts here. "I didnt know if wed be able to do it, you know? The 48 car is king here, him or the 24," he said in Victory Lane, referring to Johnson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jeff Gordon, who also has eight Martinsville victories. "Ive been on this journey for a while and every time you come to Martinsville, you just kind of draw a line through it like theres no way Ill be able to challenge those Hendrick guys or be up in the top 10," Busch said. When it was over, Busch brushed aside talk about his in-race comments about his feud with Keselowski, who claimed that Busch "just drove right through me and ruined my day" on pit road, causing Keselowski to lose 30 laps and retaliate. "He tried to flatten all four of my tires," Busch said of his former teammate with Roger Penske Racing. "Thats a no fly zone. ... He will get what he gets back when I decide to give it back." The race featured an event-record 33 lead changes, and Johnson expected there would be one more, but on a slippery day on the smallest circuit in NASCARs premier series, the cars at the end werent conducive to typical short-track racing. "Man, we were so on edge slipping and sliding," Johnson said about the final laps duel, during which there was very little of the beating and banging that usually typifies end-of-the-day racing at Martinsville. "I think the lack of security in our own car kept us from feeling more racy and putting a bumper to someone or really getting inside someone aggressively." Dale Earnhardt Jr. was third, followed by Joey Logano and Marcos Ambrose. Virginia native Denny Hamlin, a four-time winner at Martinsville stung by criticism when he missed last weeks race in Fontana, Calif., because of an eye infection, promised Friday that he would win, and qualified second, but finished 19th. New York, NY (SportsNetwork. Mikko Koivu Jersey .com) - After toppling top-seeded Virginia on Friday, the Michigan State Spartans will face the upstart Connecticut Huskies in the East Region Final at New Yorks famed Madison Square Garden. Watch Michigan State vs. UConn live on TSN with coverage starting at 1pm et/10am pt. Led by American Athletic Player of the Year Shabazz Napier, UConn has been playing above the No. 7 seed it earned in this tournament. The Huskies knocked off third-seeded Iowa State (81-76) in the Sweet 16, following a 77-65 upset of second-seeded Villanova. They are now attempting to reach the Final Four just three years removed from their surprising run to the 2011 national title. The Sweet 16 battle between Michigan State and Virginia was as advertised, with the fourth-seeded Spartans surviving with a 61-59 victory. The win was the sixth straight for Tom Izzos club, which includes their run to the Big Ten Tournament title. The Spartans are back in the Elite Eight for the first time since 2010, which was also the last time they made it to the Final Four. The 2010 trip to the Final Four was the second straight for MSU, which actually defeated UConn (82-73) in the 2009 semifinals before falling to North Carolina in the national title tilt. These teams have met twice since, with UConn winning both times to pull ahead in the all-time series, 3-2. The winner this time will take on No. 1 overall seed Florida in the Final Four next Saturday. UConn dominated in the first half and then held on in the second to pull off the upset of Iowa State. The Huskies led by as many as 17 points and shot 52 percent for the game, while holding scoring edges from both 3-point range (27-18) and the free-throw line (20-6). DeAndre Daniels (13 ppg, 5.8 rpg) came up big in the win, controlling the paint with a team-high 27 points to go with 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Daniels is clearly the most productive performer in close to the basket for the Huskies, who rely more on their talented backcourt. At the forefront of that game plan is Napier. The 6-foot-1 guard, who was a freshman on the 2011 national title squad, leads this years team in scoring (17.9 ppg), assists (4.9 apg), rebounding (5.9 rpg) and steals (1.8 spg). Ryan Boatright (12.1 ppg, 3.4 apg) and Niels Giffey (8.4 ppg, .514 3P percentage) provide depth and offensive punch out on the perimeter. After trading leads during the first 38 minutes of action on Friday, Michigan State was tied with Virginia at 51-51 with 1:49 to play. The Spartans then got a 3-pointer from Adreian Payne and a dunk from Branden Dawson to take control of the game, as they held on by hitting 5-of-7 free-throws in the final minute. Dawson compiled 24 points and 10 rebounds, and Payne had 16 points in the win over Virginia, as the frontcourt tandem powered Michigan State not just in that key stretch, but the entire game. The rest of the team managed only 23 points on 7-of-19 shooting. Leading the charge offensively is not a rare occurrence for Payne (16.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg), who is second on the roster in scoring, but getting such a productive effort from Dawson (11.4 ppg, 8.3 rpg) was a surprise, considering he is more of a complementary scorer. To defeat the Huskies, the Spartans will need better play from their key backcourt contributors -- Gary Harris (16.6 ppg) and Keith Appling (11.4 ppg, 4.5 apg), who combined for a mere eight points against Virginia. Matt Dumba Jersey . Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks were proof of that on Wednesday night. Nino Niederreiter Jersey . Englands only win in the four most recent trips north had been tight, and Scotland was expected after losing 28-6 to Ireland six days ago to show some venom against its archrival.Manchester, England (Sports Network) - A frustrating deadline day for Manchester United culminated in the club adding Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini for a fee of nearly $43 million just before the close of the transfer window. United entered the day in pursuit of Fellaini, his teammate Leighton Baines and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera. But after deals for both Herrera and Baines fell through, as well as a proposedd loan move for Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao, United salvaged a disappointing day with the capture of Fellaini. Ryan Suter Jersey. The 25-year-old joined the Toffees from Standard Liege six years ago, and he went on to amass 25 goals in 141 games at Goodison Park. Fellaini will be reunited with former Everton boss David Moyes at United after he turned in a transfer request on Monday to help push the move through. TOBLACH, Italy -- Alex Harvey was solid in a fifth-place result on Saturday in his final World Cup cross-country ski distance race prior to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Jerick McKinnon Jersey . After spending a week doing high-altitude training in Italy, the 25-year-old from St-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., bounced back into race form while challenging for the podium in the mens 15-kilometre individual start classic-ski race. Harvey clocked a time of 37 minutes 30.1 seconds. "That was a solid race from Alex today. He started out conservative and then made up ground throughout the race," said Justin Wadsworth, head coach of the Canadian cross-country ski team. "This week is all about shaking out the cobwebs after being at altitude so it was a good day." Harvey set a pace ahead of the eventual winner, Russias Alexander Legkov, in the final lap. Legkov set the time to beat at 37:02.7. Switzerlands Dario Cologna was second at 37:05.6, while Swedens Marcus Hellner rounded out the podium in third with a time of 37:20.3. Four other Canadians hit the start line including two relative rookies to the World Cup, Graeme Killick and Jesse Cockney, along with Olympic veterans Devon Kershaw and Ivan Babikov. Kershaw, from Sudbury, Ont., finished 39th with a time of 39:31.7, while Killick, from Fort McMurray, Alta., placed 40th (39:32.3). Cockney, from Canmore, Alta., was 51st (39:48.6), while Babikov, also from Canmore, finished 62nd (40:24.4) in the wet and mild conditions. "Devon and Ivan struggled with their skis today in the conditions," added Wadsworth. "All of the guys are feeling really good and I think are looking good heading into the Games." Whitehorses Emily Nishikawa was the lone Canadian to start in the womens 10-kilometre classic-ski race. Nishikawa placed 40th after clocking a time of 30:06.8. Norways Marit Bjoergen finished on top at 26:54.2. Therese Johaug, also of Norway, grabbed the silver medal with a time of 27:30.9, while Swedens Charlotte Kalla skied to the bronze after stopping the clock at 27:37.1.
