TAMPA, Fla. Deion Jones Jersey . -- Revis Island is relocating again. Less than a year after moving from the New York Jets to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a blockbuster trade that enabled him to become the highest paid cornerback in the NFL, the three-time All-Pro known for stranding opposing receivers in man coverage is out of work. He was dumped in a cost-cutting move. The Bucs released Revis on Wednesday after efforts to trade him and his $16 million annual salary. "It was a tough decision. Hes a very good player," general manager Jason Licht said during a news conference introducing four of the five free agents as he and new coach Lovie Smith push forward with plans to overhaul a team that went 4-12 last season. "We were able to get three very good players," Smith chimed at one point in support of what Licht described as a roadmap for success "for almost for the price of one." Cutting the 28-year-old Revis saved the Bucs a $1.5 million bonus that the five-time Pro Bowl selection would have been due if he remained on the roster. It also freed additional space under the salary cap, which the team intends to use to try to improve a roster that has several glaring weaknesses. "Were not trying to build slowly," Smith added. "We were a 4-12 team. Theres a lot we have to do." Revis was obtained in a pre-draft trade from the New York Jets last spring, a deal orchestrated by former coach Greg Schiano and GM Mark Dominik that cost the Bucs a first-round draft in 2013, as well as a fourth-rounder this year. If Revis had remained on Tampa Bays roster at 4 p.m. Wednesday, he would have been due the bonus and the 2014 pick the Bucs sent to the Jets would have become a third-rounder. Revis was recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee when he joined the Bucs and was given a six-year, $96 million contract. Despite not being 100 per cent physically, he appeared in all 16 games and was selected to play in the Pro Bowl last season, when he had two interceptions, a sack and two forced fumbles. "Darrelle showed a lot of heart last year as he worked extremely hard to get himself back on the field following his knee injury sustained the previous season," Licht said. "We have specific ideas regarding the best way to build this defence and, while you never like to lose a good player, we believe this is in the best interests of our team moving forward," the GM added. "Darrelle was a true professional here in Tampa Bay and we wish him continued success in his career." The release came less than an hour after the Bucs confirmed free agent quarterback Josh McCown had agreed to terms of a two-year contract, a move that reunites him with Smith. A career backup, the 12th-year pro is coming off the best season of his career with Chicago. McCown started five games in place of the injured Jay Cutler for the Bears in 2013, going 3-2 and finishing the year with 13 touchdown passes vs. one interception. McCown was a third-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2002. He spent the past two seasons with the Bears, including 2012 -- Smiths last year in Chicago. McCown, who turns 35 in July, will compete with second-year pro Mike Glennon for the starting job. Glennon started 13 games as a rookie for the Bucs, who fired Schiano and Dominik after missing the playoffs for the sixth straight season. Smith and Licht were hired in January and entered free agency determined to make some bold moves. In addition to signing McCown, the Bucs landed defensive end Michael Johnson, cornerback Alterraun Verner, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald and tight end Brandon Myers on Tuesday, the first day team could complete deals. "Were not simply talent collectors," Licht said. "Were finding the right fits." Improving the pass rush is a major priority. Signing Johnson (15 sacks over the past two seasons with Cincinnati) to a five-year, $47.5 million contract, and also nabbing McDonald (5 1-2 sacks in 2013 with Super Bowl champion Seattle) addresses that need. Myers was a productive tight end with Oakland and the New York Giants the past two seasons. Verner received a four-year, $26.5 million deal to fill the void created by the departure of Revis, regarded as one of the top players in the league at his position. The 25-year-old Verner had a career-best five interceptions and made the Pro Bowl last season with the Tennessee Titans. "I wouldnt say Im here to replace Revis," Verner said. "Im looking to try to be the very best player I can be." Derrick Coleman Jersey . The Flames announced Monday that Treliving, a former assistant general manager with the Coyotes, will take over the vacant GM spot in Calgary. "Im ready for this,"Treliving said. Justin Hardy Jersey . The 17-year-old had four goals and four assists in 38 games for Liberec in the Czech pro league this past season. Zacha had three goals and two assists in seven games at the world mens under-18 championship in April when the Czech Republic took the silver medal. SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- An anonymous rookie several weeks ago, Ray McCallum is making opponents take note of his game. Rudy Gay scored nine of his 31 points in the fourth quarter and McCallum had a career-high 27 points to help the Sacramento Kings beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-102 on Wednesday night. McCallum, the 36th overall pick in the 2013 draft, spent the majority of his rookie season with little court time, other than some strong performances in the D-League. But McCallum, who has started the last five games due to the deep quadriceps injury to Isaiah Thomas, has played like a savvy veteran point guard of late. Against the Lakers, McCallum made 12 of 22 shots and added five assists and four rebounds in 46 minutes. With McCallum directing the offence, the Kings only committed eight turnovers, three by the poised rookie. "Every time I think he cant get any better he finds a way to prove me wrong," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "The biggest thing that impresses me isnt his scoring or his assists. Its his demeanour, his composure, and his poise." McCallum had 22 points and 10 assists Monday in a victory at New Orleans. "Sometimes in this league the opportunity only comes once," said McCallum, who played three seasons at the University of Detroit where he was coached by his father, Ray McCallum Sr. "Im trying to take advantage of it. The game is definitely slowing down and Im getting more comfortable." Theres nothing comfortable regarding the Lakers right now. It was one more game where they played with a depleted roster. Missing the game were Pau Gasol (vertigo), Steve Nash (ankle), Chris Kaman (calf) and Xaiver Henry (multiple injuries). Los Angeles lost its second straight and fourth in five games. The Lakers, losers of six straight road games, are 11-27 away from home this season. The Lakers (25-50) are experiencing only their eighth losing season since moving west from Minneapolis in 1960. They are on pace to have their worst record in the Los Angeles era. The last time the Lakers had 50 or more losses was 1974-75 (30-52). "Weve had a tough (road) trip. But there were a lot of opportunities for a lot of our guys," Lakers coach Mike DAntonio said. "They should be taking these opportunities to get better and try to get some wins." Jodie Meeks scored 21 points and Jordan Hill hadd 18 points and 15 rebounds before fouling out late in the fourth quarter for the Lakers. Takkarist McKinley Jersey. Nick Young, who scored 40 points Tuesday in a loss to Portland, had 17 points and Kent Bazemore added 14. DeMarcus Cousins had 20 points and 10 rebounds, while rookie guard Ben McLemore had 12 points for Sacramento. Foul trouble plagued Cousins in the opening half when he played only 10 minutes and had eight points and three fouls. Cousins picked up his fourth foul with 7:11 left in the third quarter and went to the bench a short time later. Sacramento, which avoided a series sweep, scored nine straight points early in the second quarter and didnt trail again in winning its second straight. The Lakers had won the first three meetings this season and beaten their Pacific Division rivals five consecutive overall. "Absolutely we wanted this win," Cousins said. "We definitely didnt want to get swept." Hill hit a jumper and Ryan Kelly followed with a dunk, cutting the Sacramento lead to 103-100. But the Lakers could get no closer in the games final minute. Hill converted two free throws and Meeks made a fast-break layup, cutting the Kings lead to 96-91 with 4:32 remaining. Cousins responded with a basket, a free throw, then found Outlaw open for a dunk, giving the Kings a 101-93 lead. Leading by eight points at the half, the Kings built an 87-76 lead entering the fourth quarter. Gay, McCallum and Cousins all scored seven points in the third when the Kings outscored Los Angeles 27-24. "Ive known Ray since I was 15 and I know he can play and has great confidence," Lakers guard Kendall Marshall said. "This league is about opportunities and Im happy for him. But I wish it wasnt against us." The Lakers said Gasol suffered a "severe recurrence of vertigo" Wednesday in his Sacramento hotel. The 13-year veteran missed four straight games stemming from his initial bout with vertigo 1 1/2 weeks ago, Gasol played Tuesday night in a loss to Portland, but said he might have rushed his return to the court. NOTES: Former Kings forward Brian Grant was sitting courtside. ... McCallum had 17 points and Gay scored 15 in the first half when Sacramento led 60-52. ... Hill had four of the Lakers six blocks. ... It was the 10th 30-point plus game this season for Gay,who added five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jay Z has added another baseball star to his growing list of clientele for his sports agency. Shareece Wright Jersey . Boston Red Sox centerfielder Yoenis Cespedes is the latest athlete to join Roc Nation, the agency the hip-hop legend runs. Cespedes, who was traded to Boston from the Oakland Athletics at the trade deadline, will be a free-agent at seasons end and could earn big bucks if he puts together a solid campaign in 2015. He was previously represented by Adam Katz of WMG. The 29-year-old hit .260 with 22 home runs and 100 runs batted in over 152 games last season with Oakland and Boston. Roc Nation also represents such stars as CC Sabathia, Robinson Cano, Geno Smith, Ndamukong Suh and Kevin Durant. Zay Jones Jersey .Y. -- A month ago, Syracuse was unbeaten, ranked No. O. J. Simpson Jersey . As if the individual strands of grey hair or the increasing amount of joint pain werent reminders enough, the impending end of Jeters career is a slap-in-the-face indicator of a generations fleeting youth.VAIL, Colo. -- Lindsey Vonn is energized by her progress in recovering from a knee injury and might be in the starting gate next week in Canada. Vonn spoke with The Associated Press on Friday after three early super-G training runs. This was her first big test since she crashed during training at Copper Mountain last week and partially tore a reconstructed ligament in her right knee. "Definitely, Im encouraged," she said. "Its looking a lot better than everyone expected. Things are going well." Wearing a brightly colored jacket over her speed suit, the reigning Olympic downhill champion took an easy opening run through the course on a crisp morning. On her second pass, Vonn got a little more aggressive, picking up more speed as she glided down the hill. For her third and final run, she opened it up even more to see how her knee responded. "So far, so good," she said after her workout. So much so she remains hopeful she might race in Alberta next week. Asked about her readiness for Lake Louise, Vonn said: "Im not sure yet. As it looks right now, yeah." She concedes theres plenty more work to do to get into shape. "Im taking it day by day. Im not pushing it that hard yet," Vonn said. "Today, I was just kind of feeling it out. But tthe last run was better. Adolphus Washington Jersey. It was more like normal. Im skiing in my clothes and seeing how things go so far. Im not taking unnecessary risks yet." Some say Vonn shouldnt push so soon, especially with the Sochi Games not until February. Why not come back in January to give her surgically repaired knee more time to heal? "Because I want to start in Lake Louise," Vonn said of a course she dominates so much its known as "Lake Lindsey." She laughed as she unbuckled her ski boots and stuffed them into her car. "Im just going to progress every day until Lake Louise," Vonn said. Vonn spent Thanksgiving Day squeezing in a little free skiing, posting on her Facebook page: "First day back on snow since my crash and it was awesome!" She also attached a picture of herself -- grinning -- on an empty slope in Vail. This, however, was a bigger step. The 29-year-old Vonn is not planning to attend the season-opening World Cup downhill on the new Beaver Creek course on Friday because "its too hard on me." Vonn had her sights set on returning for this race after tearing ligaments in her right knee during a high-speed accident at the world championships in February. She was on target, too, before her Copper Mountain crash. Former Australia winger Digby Ioane has become new Crusaders coach Scott Robertsons first big-name signing for next season on a two-year deal. Clint Boling Jersey . Robertson - who has replaced Todd Blackadder after he left to become Baths director of rugby - moved for Digby after two key players left.Fijis Nemani Nadolo has switched to French Top 14 side Montpellier while Johnny McNicholl has moved on to play for Pro12 team Scarlets. Ioane played 35 times for the Wallabies and previously turned out for Super Rugby sides Western Force (2006-07) and Queensland Reds (2008-13) before heading to France then Japan. Scott Robertson has taken charge of Crusaders following Todd Blackadders departure for Bath He said: I have had a great time playing in France and Japan, but the opportunity to be part of a New Zealand Super Rugby team is too good to pass up.I love the intensity and tempo of Super Rugby and the New Zealand teams are leading the charge in that respect at the moment, so I cant wait to be a part of that.Robertson added: Digby is a massive talent, who we believe still has plenty of top class playing years left in him.We are excited about what he can do for this team, with his remarkable ability to create opportunities and score tries. Michael Johnson Jersey . -- Sonny Grays fastball wasnt as sharp as it usually is, and the Oakland Athletics young pitcher even had a quirky replay go against him.RALEIGH, N.C. -- With his latest milestone within reach, Alex Ovechkin caught himself pressing and overthinking his play. All of a sudden, his path to history was clear. Ovechkin scored his 400th career goal into an empty net after the Washington Capitals had three power-play goals in the second period of a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night. "I had a couple of chances to score, and they were good ones, but maybe I tried to make more moves than I usually do," Ovechkin said. "(An) empty-netter is (an) empty-netter. Of course I (thought) about it, but its over and its time to move on." Troy Brouwer, Marcus Johansson and John Carlson scored with the man advantage and Nicklas Backstrom assisted on all four goals to help the second-place Capitals win for the fifth time in their last seven games. Ovechkins empty-netter with 24.5 seconds left in his 634th career game made him the sixth-fastest player in NHL history to reach No. 400 and the seventh active player with that many. "As we all know, hes a pretty good goal-scorer," Backstrom said. "Its always fun to see a player accomplish something big and I think 400 goals in however many games he has, its great. We all know hes a great player." Jordan Staal and Riley Nash scored for Carolina while Cam Ward stopped 25 shots. The Hurricanes had earned at least a point in six of their previous seven games. But theyve dropped four of five with the loss to the Caps. "Five-on-5, we were all over them," Staal said. "We were the better team, 5-on-5. But three power-play goals, you cant let that happen. Thats not good enough, obviously, and thats how you lose games." Washingtons Philipp Grubauer matched a season high with 39 saves -- and got some help from the choppy ice after Alexander Semins shot with about 6 minutes left trickled just wide of the net. The Capitals have the leagues second-best power-play unit with a success rate of nearly 25 per cent. They converted all three of their chances in the second. ";You dont want to have to rely on it, but whenever its going to power you through games, absolutely you want to rely on it," Brouwer said of the power play. A.J. Green Jersey. A fortunate bounce helped the Capitals reclaim the lead at 3-2 with 4:31 left in the period: Mike Green broke his stick while dribbling a shot up the middle that clipped Brouwer on its way past Ward. "When it comes slower, obviously I get a better touch on it," Brouwer said. "I had my stick halfway up my body thinking it was going to be a higher shot because thats where he usually likes to shoot. Its almost a weird adjustment where you dont ever practice having to put your stick back down on the ice." That capped a big period for the Capitals power play. Johansson tied it 41 seconds into the second when he stuffed the puck between Wards left leg and the post. Carlson put the Capitals up 2-1 with 11:26 left -- and just 14 seconds into a holding minor on Tuomo Ruutu -- when his straightaway blast from just inside the blue line got past Ward. Carolina, which has the leagues third-worst power play, made it 2-all 2:42 later by scoring on the man advantage, with Nash making the most of Andrej Sekeras rebound. But it couldnt convert late after Carlson went off for hooking with 4:50 to play, despite peppering Grubauer with a barrage of shots from close range. The Hurricanes were playing for the first time since Dec. 14, when they wrapped up a four-point, four-game western swing with a win at Phoenix. Staal put the Hurricanes up 1-0 with 2:48 left in the first when he scored on a one-touch pass from Semin, who played seven years with the Capitals before signing with Carolina in July 2012. "We did a good job of getting after him and getting shots and getting opportunities," Staal said. "We just didnt bury them." NOTES: The Hurricanes scratched D Mike Komisarek (lower-body injury) after activating him from injured reserve earlier in the day. ... Semins point was his first since his Dec. 12 return from a concussion that cost him 12 games. KVITFJELL, Norway -- Erik Guay has never been a fan of skiing with pain but is showing he can adapt and overcome. Tre Davious White Jersey . The native of Mont-Tremblant, Que., captured a World Cup downhill event Saturday, his second this year and fifth career victory on the circuit. And it came on one of his favourite courses as two of his victories and four of his 22 podium finishes have come at Kvitfjell, where theres a super-G scheduled for Sunday. "There are a lot of similarities (between Norway and Quebec)," Guay said during a conference call. "When I left Quebec it was raining and warm and thats pretty much exactly what its here but it can easily be -30 C, again, a lot like Quebec. "I feel comfortable when I come here." Guay finished fourth in a downhill event Friday. The impressive showings came following a respectable 10th-place effort in the downhill at the Sochi Games. But Guay said he battled knee issues in Russia. He had knee surgery in the summer and claimed a World Cup downhill in Val Gardena, Italy, in December but didnt feel anywhere near 100 per cent in Sochi. "It (knee) affected me a lot," he said. "I have a hard time skiing through pain, I have a hard time really finding that courage, that determination to fight through it and push on the ski. "I was trying not to mention it too much in the media because I wanted to put it out of my head completely and sort of pretend and focus that it wasnt even there. You definitely have that on the brain and it was affecting me because I couldnt do a proper preparation for the Games." However, Guay said hes working on improving his mental ability to deal with injury much like teammate Jan Hudec of Calgary, who has overcome numerous ailments to succeed on the world scene. "The ideal situation is to not have that pain and I plan to deal with it in the off-season," Guay said. "Right now Im trying to work through it and I think its an important thing. "If I look at a guy like Jan Hudec, probably one of his biggest strengths is that strength and character he shows when he has those injuries. I know he skiis in a lot of pain so I like to watch those circumstances and try to emulate them. Its not always easy for me. I think when I dont feel 100 per cent its tough for me to go out and attack it but id like to think its getting better." Guay, 32, finished ahead of Frenchman Johan Clarey and Olympic champion Matthias Mayer of Austria. American Travis Ganong, who was third Friday, narrowly missed out on another podium, finishing 0.62 seconds back in fourth. Bode Miller, a bronze medallist in the super-G at the Sochi Olympics, was eighth. Conditions were overcast and a little foggy but unlike Fridays downhill the rain stayed away. Guay had a time of one minute 22.17 seconds, finishing 0.35 seconds ahead of Clarey -- who secured a third career podium. "Its difficult conditions, soft snow. I think you need a really well-balanced touch," Guay said. "If youre too aggressive or leaning in a little bit, its easy to lose (time)." Jeffrey Frisch of Mont-Tremblant finished 17th while Manuel Osborne-Paradis of North Vancouver, B.C., was 21st. Benjamin Thomsen of Invermere, B.C., was 43rd, finishing one spot ahead of Hudec. Other Canadians included: Conrad Pridy of Whistler, B.C., (50th), Torontos Dustin Cook (59th) and Morgan Pridy of Whistler (60th). Meanwhile, it was the best result of Clareys career. "It shows anything can happen, even late on. Better late than never," Clarey said. "Im not hugely confident at the moment and the Olympics were difficult for me to cope with mentally." Clarey had pondered retirement after the Sochi Games, where he didnt finish the downhill and was 19th in super-G. "This changes my ideas a little bit from a psychological point of view," he said. "Even though my knees still pretty banged up." Despite already having an Olympic gold medal, the 23-year-old Mayer clinched his first career podium in World Cup downhill and only his third overall. "I had a lot of things to do, with celebrating the Olympic victory back home. I hadnt much time for me to be prepared," Mayer said. "I can be happy with this result. Its very difficult to be fast here, with the soft snow its not the best conditions." Ganong finished fifth in the downhill at the Sochi Olympics. "I really thought I could (win), so I pushed a little harder and had a couple mistakes. I was able to make up a lot of time on the bottom and salvage fourth place," he said. "Its really fun skiing right now. Im having a good time and the results are coming." Olympic super-G champion Kjetil Jansrud of Norway, who tied for the win Friday with Austrian Georg Streitberger, placed fifth. "I made a couple of mistakes which I didnt think I would make," Jansrud said. "Fell on my inside ski a couple of times, I had to support myself on my hand." Overall World Cup leader Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway was tied for sixth with Switzerlands Silvan Zurbriggen. E.J. Gaines Jersey . As each game passes (each has played close with the exception of last night) it becomes clearer just how evenly matched these two teams are and how one mistake, or one bad inning, is likely to sway the result. Corey Brown Jersey . - Nikita Jevpalovs scored 6:22 into the second overtime as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada edged the visiting Rimouski Oceanic 2-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action. BERLIN -- Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored twice as Schalke moved provisionally third in the Bundesliga with a hard-fought 2-1 win at Augsburg on Friday. The home side capitalized on a mistake from Schalkes Tim Hoogland to score in the fifth minute. Tobias Werner ran onto his weak back header, took the ball on his chest and dispatched it inside the far post with his next touch. Huntelaar equalized on a rebound in the 33rd. Augsburg captain Daniel Baier lost the ball and Julian Draxler back-heeled it to Kevin-Prince Boateng, who tried his luck from 22 metres (yards). Alexander Manninger saved but spilled the ball. "The Hunter was there where he should be," Boateng said. Sead Kolasinac crossed for Huntelaars second in the 49th. It was his fifth goal in two Bundesliga games, and a league-leading seventh since the winter break. "t;It was a difficult game for us," the in-form Dutchman said. Custom Buffalo Bills Jerseys. "We werent in it in the beginning. Too many individual mistakes. We really had to fight to get into the game. Thankfully we got the goals but we could have conceded at the end too." Augsburg finished the game in the ascendancy but the visitors hung on to move within a point of bitter rival Borussia Dortmund. Schalke moved three points clear of Bayer Leverkusen, which visits runaway leader Bayern Munich on Saturday, while Augsburg stays sixth for now. Schalke visits Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, faced with the seemingly impossible task of overturning the 6-1 defeat from the sides first-leg of their round-of-16 tie. "Itll be difficult to progress but were not going just for the sightseeing," Boateng said. TORONTO – You could say that Stephane Robidas became a Texan. Randy Gregory Jersey . Having spent more than a decade of his professional life in Dallas, Texas became a bona-fide second home for the native of Sherbrooke, Quebec. It was almost like I was a Texan, Robidas says. I was part of it for so long. This is not a hockey story, but instead a story on the reverberations of a life within hockey. So often in sports – and perhaps rightfully so – we focus on player movement through the lens of the team but rarely through that of the individual. Robidass exit from Dallas, where he first landed in the fall of 2002, was painful. He played more than 700 games there with the Stars, but it was leaving the place where he and his family built a life that was particularly tough and not without a few tears. -- Drafted by his hometown Montreal Canadiens in 1995, Robidas always figured hed finish his career in Dallas, but that was not ultimately to be. He signed a three-year deal this summer to play in Toronto. Its like moving away from home, he said of leaving the Lone Star state. Its the same thing because I can honestly say Dallas was home for me. Obviously Im from Quebec, Im proud to be French Canadian and I will always go back home in the summer, but my life was in Dallas for the longest time. Hed built his family there. He was at his best as a professional there. His friends were there. And then suddenly he was gone, sporting a Ducks jersey three weeks after he was first approached about leaving. -- It was a Sunday in March earlier this year when the world first shook for the Robidas clan. Still fighting his way back from the first of two broken right leg injuries, Robidas was practicing with his Stars teammates that day in Dallas. He grabbed a bite to eat after the on-ice session and was on his way to the gym for a workout when the still newish general manager of the team, Jim Nill, approached. Nill invited Robidas into his office for a chat. Do I work out first? Robidas asked. No, Nill said, come and see me before you work out. Long the second in command to Ken Holland in Detroit, Nill started by saying how much the Stars appreciated everything that Robidas had done – he was in his 11th season with the team – adding how much they loved him in the process. Then he told Robidas that two legitimate Stanley Cup contenders – teams with more certain playoff hopes than the Stars – were interested in his services for the remainder of the year. Robidas was confused. He hadnt played since the end of November and was uncertain of when hed be back. But he understood the opportunity that was being presented, an opportunity to perhaps capture a Cup in his twilight years. He put it up front, Robidas said glowingly of Nill. He said hey, I think for you and your career, this is the best thing. Youre not going to be rushed to come back [from the injury] and you have a chance to win a Cup. It will be good for your career. The Stars – with whom hed first been traded to more than 11 years earlier – were doing him a favour, he thought. They were offering him a prime chance to chase the Cup in one of two places, neither of which Nill would divulge at that point. Robidas had his 37th birthday the following day, a Monday. His thoughts raced. He had no idea what was to come, only that it wasnt going to be in Dallas, the place hed made his home for so many years. The whole day, Im thinking Im going to get traded, but I dont know where, Robidas recalls. My head is spinning 100 miles an hour. Later that night, the Stars – minus Robidas, who would sadly never play another shift with the team – hosted the Sabres at the American Airlines Center. Theyd win the evening on a third period power play goal from Alex Chiasson and were due to fly out immediately afterward for a date in Columbus the next night. Knowing a trade was coming – though he didnt know where – Robidas decided hed better say his goodbyes. I might not be back, he told them. The next morning, he arrived at a mostly quiet rink. He was there to skate with the teams skills coach, now more than three months after he first broke his knee against Chicago. Robidas was just about to take the ice when Nill approached, once more, in the Stars dressing room. It was Anaheim, he said of the team which had emerged for his services. You okay with that? Nill asked. Robidas responded affirmatively. Nill told him not to tell anyone yet. He would call up Ducks general manager Bob Murray and make the deal – which sent a fourth round pick to Dallas. In shock, Robidas grabbed his phone and already there were a rush of texts from everywhere. They all wanted to know if it was true, if hed been traded away from the Stars one more time. Per Nills instruction, Robidas kept quiet. Instead, he dialed up his ex-wife, Marie-Eve, who proceeded to pick up their two kids, Justin and Lexie, from school. Trades, we forget, affect not only the player, but his family and in this particular case, news of the trade was devastating. Justin, you see, had been born in Texas, was raised in Texas. All he really knew was Texas. And so out came the tears when the elder Robidas pulled into his driveway and found his son playing hockey in the garage. Justin was getting rid of his Stars jersey, he told his dad. Hed erased the Stars app on his phone, too. That Friday, the Stars were due to honour their all-time leading scorer, Mike Modano. Justin was among the nine kids due to take the ice for the ceremony, but upon learning of the trade, heartbroken, he didnt want to do it. He was crushed, Robidas said, still noticeably pained by the memory. Now with his third organization in a matter of months, Robidas is doing his best to adjust. His kids have moved back to Quebec with his ex-wife, a reality thats made day-to-day life different and admittedly difficult in Toronto. As a Star, hed wake up in the morning, drive the kids to school, hit the ice for practice and then pick them up from school again afterward. Now, hes mostly alone. Thats the toughest thing for me, he said. Now I wake up every morning, Im by myself. I get off practice, I go home. Its a different lifestyle. He isnt complaining. Its a reality of the business, he knows, and not ultimately all that unique. He calls Justin and Lexie every day, FaceTimes with them often, and when theres a break in the schedule, Robidas hops a quick early morning flight to Quebec, if only to spend the day with them. Theyll see their dad when the Leafs visit the Canadiens. Theyll visit in November. Hell head back to Sherbrooke for Christmas. Its an adjustment. Im not the first guy that it happens to and Im not the last guy either, he says. Youve just got to deal with it the best you can. The kids are still adjusting to the drastic cultural shift from the big lights of Dallas, where theres lots of money, Robidas says, to the working-class norms of Sherbrooke. His son still misses Texas plenty. He chats with his hockey buddies there all the time, tells his dad he misses those friends, misses Dallas. This will be their first winter, Robidas says, their first chance to live in the snow. He worries for them, but knows the new experience will do them good. More culture, more life experience, can only be a positive. Kids, they adjust, Robidas says. Its amazing how they adjust to things. A lot of the time, we worry about them, but as long as they feel like theyre loved and you take care of them and you spend time with them and theyre not alone, theyll adjust. And he will too. Though its clear, Dallas will not be forgotten. Custom Dallas Cowboys Jerseys . PAUL, Minn. Orlando Scandrick Jersey . "It feels good, Ive never had one before, not even in College," Hagelin said after the Rangers outgunned the Jets 4-2, behind some solid goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist following a pretty wide open first period.Clemson, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Clemson Tigers will play the first of three straight SEC opponents, as they welcome the 18th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks to Littlejohn Coliseum for non-conference action on Sunday. The Tigers have already secured a win over an SEC foe, beating LSU (64-61) in the final round of the Paradise Jam. However, the team has split its two games since that in-season tournament, edging out High Point (62-59) before losing to Rutgers (69-64) as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge last week. The Razorbacks are off to a strong 6-1 start to the year that has put them firmly in the Top-25. However, the team is in unfamiliar territory after winning the first six games of the season, as Arkansas dropped a humbling 95-77 decision at nationally-ranked Iowa State on Thursday as part of the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Arkansas has won both previous meetings with Clemson, including a 74-68 win at Bud Walton Arena last season. The Cyclones unloaded on the Razorbacks, shooting a scorching 64.3 percent from the floor in the first half to stroll into intermission with a gaudy 52-32 lead. Arkansas was unable to really get back into the contest, as ISU continued its torrid pace, shooting 63.6 percent over the final 20 minutes of play to earn the lopsided win. The loss spoiled a strong performance by Bobby Portis, who finished the game with 19 points and eight rebounds. Alandise Harris netted 15 points, while Rashad Madden and Michael Qualls chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respeectively. Jonathan Cooper Jersey. . Scoring points hasnt been a problem at all for Arkansas this year, as the team shoots a healthy .472 from the floor, a number bolstered by an impressive .443 from behind the arc (62-of-140). The result is a scoring average of 88.1 ppg that ranks in the top-10 in the nation. Scoring depth is apparent with four of the teams five starters averaging double figures. Portis is the best of the bunch, shooting .558 from the floor and pacing the team in both scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg). Qualls (14.6 ppg) is a close second in the scoring column, followed by Anthlon Bell (11.9 ppg) and Madden (11.4 ppg). Clemson lacks the firepower to win a shootout with Arkansas and would be best served to slow things down. The Tigers are averaging a modest 68.4 ppg, but have played tight defense, limiting foes to just 61.3 ppg. Like the Razorbacks, four of Clemsons starters average double digits in points. Guard Damarcus Harrison leads the charge with 11.9 ppg. Center Landry Nnoko (11.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg) and forward Jaron Blossomgame (11.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg) are an effective duo up front. Freshman forward Dante Grantham (10.4 ppg) adds depth. Tied at the half with Rutgers, Clemson just failed to get over the hump against the Scarlet Knights and dropped the five-point affair at home. Harrison led the team in defeat with 15 points. Blossomgame recorded a double- double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Rod Hall and Grantham added 10 points each in the loss. LOS ANGELES -- The UFC is expanding its promotion of womens mixed martial arts by opening a second weight class. Jake Matthews Jersey . UFC President Dana White announced the move Wednesday. The UFC has acquired the contracts of 11 strawweight fighters from Invicta FC, the respected MMA promotion focused on female fighters. The 115-pounders will compete next year on a season of "The Ultimate Fighter," the UFCs competition reality show on Fox Sports 1. The winner of the competition will become the UFCs first strawweight champion, White says. The UFC opened a womens bantamweight division last year, backtracking on Whites long-standing declaration that the UFC would never promote the womens sport. White says he has been thrilled by his sports reception for champion Ronda Rousey and the rest of the 135-pound womens division. Custom Atlanta Falcons Jerseys . -- Phil Mickelson came to the St. Desmond Trufant Jersey . And all things considered, the first 40 games have offered a little bit of everything from a hockey club that faced many questions in its first year under new management, with a new head coach and with a number of new faces in the lineup. However, with a recent dip in scoring, it seems some of the same old questions persist and several new ones have been raised after a somewhat troubling homestand. The San Antonio Spurs, the model for stability and sustained success in the modern NBA, were still a shaken team when they showed up for training camp in October, less than four months after a devastating loss to Miami in the NBA Finals. Some coaches would try to brush off the disappointment of letting a title slip through their fingers and refuse to acknowledge the elephant in the room. Gregg Popovich took it head on, embraced the heartache, and in a career full of masterful coaching performances, delivered perhaps his finest effort in season No. 18. "The way we lost in the finals wasnt an ordinary loss, it was pretty devastating," Popovich said on Tuesday after being named NBA coach of the year. "We decided that we needed to just face that right off the bat at the beginning of the season and get it out of the way. Dont blame it on the basketball gods or bad fortune or anything like that, the Miami Heat beat us and won the championship and thats that." Popovich joined Don Nelson and Pat Riley as the only coaches in league history to take home the Red Auerbach trophy three times in their career. "Theyre on the hood of my car," Popovich cracked. "One, two, three, right on the car, the way players do license plates. ... Ive got three of those right on the hood." Hes never liked the attention, never bought into the proclamations of his genius. When the accolades come his way, Popovich is quick to deflect them, giving the credit to his players, his assistant coaches, owner Peter Holt and general manager R.C. Buford. The humility in his voice on Tuesday was genuine, the challenge of putting the pieces back together after last seasons finish as daunting as ever. They showed up to training camp still stinging from that defeat, and Popovich had to get to know a new-look coaching staff after losing longtime assistants Brett Brown and Mike Budenholzer to head coaching jobs in Philadelphia and Atlanta. Then he led the Spurs to a league-best 62-20 record, which gives them home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. And he did it while deftly navigating a season filled with nagging injuries to several key players. Tim Duncan was the only starter to play in at least 70 games. No Spur averaged 30 minutes per game and Tony Parker led the team with a modest 16.7 points per game. Despite all of that, the Spurs won at least 50 games for the 15th straight season and topped 60 for the fourth time in that span. "Day after day, year after year, the energy that Pop provides our organization is truly unique," Buford said. The Spurs lead the Dallas Mavericks 1-0 in their best-of-seven series, with Game 2 on Wednesday night in San Antonio. Andy Levitre Jersey. "Hes a gentleman," Spurs swingman Marco Belinelli said. "Everybody knows that hes the best coach in the league. So to say that is not really important. But maybe some people, they dont know hes really a great guy, a great gentleman. He really helps guys, helps each other. He wants to help everybody. Great person." When Miami topped San Antonio in that classic seven-game series, Popovichs reaction resonated deeply within some members of the Heat organization. Instead of showing his disappointment at the final buzzer, Popovich lingered on the court for a few minutes, sharing heartfelt embraces and words with Erik Spoelstra, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, among others -- even smiling as he chatted with them and congratulated them on winning the title. And when told of Popovichs award Tuesday, James offered high praise to the Spurs coach. "Not surprised," James said. "Its well-awarded. I have the utmost respect for Gregg Popovich, man. Not only what hes been able to do for that team, but him just being able to always keep those guys motivated and always keep their best interests. ... From the outside looking in, it seems that he has their best interests and all he cares about is the teams success and nothing else matters. Thats big-time." Behind all his press conference bluster and the orneriness he directs toward the officials, there is a softer side that endears Popovich to those around him. That much was revealed during Game 1 against the Mavericks when he was interviewed by Craig Sager Jr., who was filling in for his father, a longtime sideline reporter who is being treated for leukemia. Popovichs curt demeanour and one-word answers to the elder Sagers questions have become appointment viewing, but this time the coach stopped in the middle of tense game, stared right into the camera and delivered a heart-felt message. "We miss you. Youve been an important part of all of us for a long time, doing a great job," he said. "We want your fanny back on the court, and I promise Ill be nice." Popovich garnered 59 first-place votes and 380 total points in voting conducted by a panel of media members. Phoenixs Jeff Hornacek (37 first-place votes) finished second and Chicagos Tom Thibodeau (12) finished third in the voting, with Charlottes Steve Clifford and Torontos Dwane Casey rounding out the top five in a season so strong that Spoelstra did not make the top 10. The Raptors margin of victory was one point shy of their franchise best.Kyle Lowry added 20 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Eastern Conference-leading Raptors (10-2), who went 6-1 on their homestand. But it was Caboclo who was swarmed by reporters in the post-game dressing room. DeRozan teased him saying loudly: You play one game and you get this?Butterflies in my stomach, said the shy Brazilian, whos still learning English. Everybodys saying my name. Its incredible. He said he heard the fans when they starting chanting his name in the third quarter.I put my head down, he said. Nobody in that locker-room was even talking about (Saturday) night. If were going to be an elite team, or grow to be an elite team in this league, we have to make sure to take care of business and take care of whats in front of us.The coach also had kind words for his young rookie, who was the surprise pick of the NBA draft when he was taken 20th overall.I thought it was special, Casey said on the fans reaction. Hes a beautiful kid. Like any other kid, hes learning and growing in the NBA. As a coach, I see him growing everyday and know what he needs to work on. Its great for him. That’s why as coaches were pushing to dress 15. If he wasnt in uniform tonight, he wouldnt have gotten that opportunity. The Raptors shot 52 per cent on the night, and hit 15 of their 25 shots from three-point range. They outrebounded the Bucks 57-30. Torontos best margin of victory was 42 points in a 96-54 win over Miami on March 19, 2008.Valanciunas had 12 points in the first quarter including the floater midway through the frame that put the Raptors up by 17 points. The Bucks fought back to within seven, but a three by Williams at the buzzer put Toronto up by 10 heading into the second.Williams was the high scorer with 11 points in a second quarter that saw Toronto top the Bucks 34-18. Williams hit yet another three at the buzzer to send the Raptors into the dressing room with a 71-45 advantage. The Raptors showed no mercy in the third, holding the Bucks to just 12 points and passing their franchise-best lead of 43 points late in the quarter, to go into the fourth up by 45.NOTES: The Raptors were missing James Johnson (ankle) and Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder). . . Make sure to stay tuned for Part 3 of our feature, which will involve the "What If" teams of hockey, such as the Hartford Whalers and HC Dynamo Moscow. Jack Roslovic Jets Jersey Authentic . Jansen Harkins Jets Jersey Authentic . Saskatchewans Darian Durant is expected to miss the rest of the Roughriders season with a torn tendon in his right elbow. The 32-year-old, who will undergo surgery in the next couple days to repair the injury, was added to the teams six-game injury list Tuesday. Laurie Boschman Jets Jersey . - Maynor Figueroa headed in a late goal to give Honduras a 1-1 draw with the United States in an international friendly Tuesday. WASHINGTON -- Bernard Hopkins made some more boxing history, and did it in rather easy fashion. Then, the 49-year-old boxer showed his age, referencing a TV character that might have gone over the heads of many young fans. "I was so in my living room watching Archie Bunker," Hopkins said, playfully comparing himself to the main character from the 1970s series "All in the Family." "I was so relaxed, so relaxed." Already the oldest boxer in history to hold a world championship, Hopkins became the oldest to win a unification bout Saturday night as he captured a split 12-round decision over Beibut Shumenov of Kazakhstan. Afterward, the Philadelphia native sounded far from finished -- or satisfied. "The pound-for-pound best fighter in the world right now is Floyd Money Mayweather," Hopkins said. "Ill tell you, behind Andre Ward, who I believe is second and should be, Im not that far from the top three. My age and the way Im doing it. "Im just telling you, Im not done yet." Hopkins was in complete control Saturday and it was reflected in the statistics. Of the 608 punches thrown by Shumenov, only 20 per cent landed. Of the 383 punches Hopkins threw, he landed 49 per cent. "I didnt do that when I was 30," Hopkins joked. "He was really surprised the way I could stand there and let him miss." When the split decision was announced the pro-Hopkins crowd of 6,823 jeered its disapproval. Two judges scored the fight 116-111 for Hopkins. The other judge gave the nod to Shumenov 114-113. "I shut him out," Hopkins said. If there was any doubt about the outcome, it was removed in the 11th round when Hopkins rocked Shumenov with a chopping overhand right for the only knockkdown of the fight, igniting chants of "B-Hop! B-Hop!" from the D. Logan Stanley Jets Jersey. C. Armory crowd. It was a reminder for Hopkins of 20 years ago, when he fought for the first time in Washington, losing a decision to Roy Jones Jr. at RFK Stadium, right across the street from the venue where Saturdays fight took place. "It motivates me every time I come to D.C. The dressing rooms, it took me back," said Hopkins, who improved to 55-6-2. After a slow start, in which he fought defensively, Hopkins controlled the action, growing confident, aggressive and playful as the fight progressed. The fourth round saw Shumenov moving forward, but Hopkins landed the two best shots, both right-handed counterpunches, to secure the edge. In the fifth, Hopkins was doing more than counterpunching. A straight overhand right landed squarely to the cheek of Shumenov. By the sixth round, it was clear that Hopkins confidence was growing as he became the aggressor, initiating the action and landing a big combination. In the seventh round, Hopkins was feeling so good that he alternated leading with his right and left hands, befuddling Shumenov, who fell to 14-2. "Im kind of angry that I lost the fight," Shumenov said. "I am a true warrior." Hopkins-Shumenov was one of three world title fights on Saturday. In the first, Peter Quillin of Brooklyn, N.Y., retained his WBO middleweight belt and improved to 31-0 with a unanimous 12-round decision over Lukas Konecky of the Czech Republic. In the IBF welterweight title match, Shawn Porter of Cleveland also remained undefeated with a fourth-round knockout of Brooklyns Paulie Malignaggi, who took time off from his job as an analyst for Showtime, which carried the nights action. PORTLAND, Ore. Augusto Fernandez Atletico Madrid Jersey . -- The Trail Blazers who got off to such a strong start this season re-emerged against Washington Wizards. "The ball was moving. It was a lot of fun to be out there," Wesley Matthews said. "Thats how we play. Thats how we got on a roll, thats how we got to be one of the hottest teams." Matthews matched his season high with 28 points, including four 3-pointers, and the Portland defeated the Wizards 116-103 on Thursday night. Damian Lillard added 23 points and 10 assists for the Blazers, who are still playing without injured All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge. Portland (45-24) remained in fifth place in the Western Conference with three victories in their last four games after slumping with a four-game losing streak. The Wizards (35-33) have lost two straight to open four-game swing against the Western Conference while they vie for a playoff spot in the East to end a five-year absence. Washington currently sits sixth in their conference. John Wall had 24 points and 14 assists for Washington, which trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half. "They are a team that gets hot from time to time," Wall said. "And they got hot and made some contested shots, they rotated the ball and guys knocked down their shots." Portland played small in Aldridges absence and finished with 32 assists on 41 field goals. " I think right now were just moving the ball really well," Lillard said. "And when youre moving the ball, you put yourself in position to make shots." Wizards centre Marcin Gortat was scratched from the lineup just before the game because of a lower back strain. It was the first game hes missed this season. Gortat, who hurt his back during pregame warmups and left the court wincing, is averaging 12.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. In Washingtons 117-111 overtime loss at Sacramento on Tuesday, Gortat had 19 points and 14 rebounds. The Wizards started Kevin Seraphin in his place. The Wizards are still without forward Nene, who missed his 12th gram because of a sprained left MCL. "Things arent going our way right now," Wall said. "Some guys are down, but there are no excuses. We know we should be 1-1 on this trip right now. Two more games left to put this one behind us. Win the next two, go home even." The Blazers, who opened the season 22-4 and rose to the top of the standings, played without Aldridge for the fourth straight game because of a lower back contusion. He is expected to return when the Blazers play at Charlotte on Saturday. They got a scare against the Wizards when reserve guard Will Barton, who has been a spark off the bench this season, appeared to injure his right arm and left the game for a time. In the second half he wore a brace on his elbow. The Blazers jumped out to a 19-14 lead, but the Wizards answered with a 14-4 run to lead 28-23 after the first quarter. Bradley Beals layup extended the lead to 35-27. The Wizards stayed in front, going up 45-39 on former Blazer Martell Websters dunk. But Lillard dunked with less than a minute to go in the half and Robin Lopez added a layup to tie the game at 51. Lillard added a pair of free throws for a 53-51 Blazers lead at the break. Portland opened the third quarter with an 11-3 run, including 3-pointers from Lillard, Dorell Wright and Matthews, to stretch the lead to 64-53. The Blazers had six 3s in the quarter to head into the final period with an 86-73 lead. Bartons pass between the legs of Drew Gooden was snagged by Thomas Robinson for the jam to make it 89-73. Wright, who has been starting in Aldridges absence, matched his season-high with 15 points. Gooden had 18 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Washington. NOTES: The Blazers on Thursday announced a $16 million makeover of the Moda Center, including renovation of the arenas suites and a new glass enclosed bar on the upper level that will offer a panoramic view of Portland. The Blazers are also holding a fan contest to redesign the teams court. ... The Blazers have had four straight games with at least 12 3-pointers, a franchise record. ... The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Wizards in the series with Portland. Angel Correa Jersey . And rest hardly led to rust for the two-time defending NBA champions. Guilherme Siqueira Atletico Madrid Jersey . -- Sonny Grays fastball wasnt as sharp as it usually is, and the Oakland Athletics young pitcher even had a quirky replay go against him.New York, NY (Sports Network) - Alabama survived a marquee matchup with Texas A&M to remain the top team in the latest Associated Press college football poll. The Crimson Tide fended off a late comeback bid by the Aggies and escaped College Station with a 49-42 victory on Saturday. Alabama received 59 first- place votes, two more than last week, and a total of 1,499 points from a nationwide media panel. Texas A&M fell four spots to No. 10 following the loss. The top five stayed the same, with Alabama again followed by Oregon, Clemmson, Ohio State and Stanford. Sime Vrsaljko Atletico Madrid Jersey. The Ducks received the other first-place vote. LSU and Florida State each climbed two spots, with the schools sandwiching No. 7 Louisville. Georgia stayed put at No. 9. The second 10 consists of Oklahoma State, South Carolina, UCLA, Oklahoma, Michigan, Miami-Florida, Washington, Northwestern, Florida and Baylor. The last five teams ranked this week are Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Arizona State, Wisconsin and Texas Tech. Both the Sun Devils and Red Raiders are new additions to the poll. ROME - Refusing to concede the Serie A title, Roma produced a convincing 2-0 win over AC Milan on Friday that will keep Juventus from celebrating for at least another week. Custom Phoenix Suns Jersey . Miralem Pjanic dribbled through the defence to score an extraordinary goal in the 43rd minute at the Stadio Olimpico and Gervinho added another from a rebound in the 65th for Romas ninth straight victory — ending Milans five-match winning streak. With only three matches to play, Roma moved within five points of Juventus, which visits relegation-threatened Sassuolo on Monday. While Juventus can clinch the title if it beats Sassuolo and Atalanta a week later no matter what Roma does, the Giallorossi are hoping the title race stays open until they host the leader in the penultimate round. If Roma had not beaten Milan, Juve could have clinched Monday. "We wont give up until the end but it doesnt depend on us," said Roma forward Adem Ljajic, who came close to scoring in the first half. "Were going to fight until the end and see what happens." With a win at Catania next weekend, Roma can match its 10-game winning streak to open the season. Milan, still trying to secure a spot in Europe, remained tied with Parma in sixth place. After a slow start, Roma took control by dominating possession and Pjanic dribbled by three defenders before slotting the ball past Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who could only get a weak hand on the ball. "A goal like that you see once in a lifetime," Ljajic said. Pjanic nearly scored again in the 53rd but Abbiati blocked his effort, which was set up by a free kick scheme from Totti. Gervinho then doubled the lead by pounding in a rebound of a hard shot from Totti for his ninth goal of a season that has seen the Ivory Coast forward revive his career after a difficult spell with Arsenal. Milan forward Mario Balotelli wasted a couple chances in the first half and was largely ineffective, leading to his substitution by Giampaolo Pazzini in the 69th. Leandro Barbosa Jersey . The Raptors had an early deadline Sunday, a dreaded afternoon game, and they left the bulk of their work until the last minute, as theyve done so many times before. Jason Kidd Suns Jersey .com) - Devan Dubnyk stopped all 30 shots fired his way and made several big saves down the stretch for his third shutout of the season as the Minnesota Wild beat the Calgary Flames 1-0 on Tuesday. After one of the greatest offensive halves in league history, the San Antonio Spurs will try to put a stranglehold on the NBA Finals when they visit AmericanAirlines Arena for Game 4 against the Miami Heat. You can watch the game live on TSN and TSN GO at 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt. or listen to the game live on TSN Radio 1050 Toronto and TSN Radio 1260 Edmonton. The Spurs shot a Finals record 75.8 percent from the floor in the first half in Tuesdays Game 3. They blitzed the Heat during that first 24 minutes, building a 25-point lead at one point and posting a 111-92 victory. San Antonio registered 41 first-quarter points and led 71-50 after the first half. The Heat stormed back a bit in the third, but the Spurs were too much. They reclaimed homecourt advantage and snapped Miamis 11-game home winning streak in the postseason dating back to Game 1 of last years Finals. "We think we can win on every court. We have the best record on the road, and we love playing on the road. Sometimes I feel like we play better on the road than at home," Spurs guard Tony Parker said after practice on Wednesday. "So I dont think we had doubts that we can win in Miami. Now we realized it was a crazy game and were not going to play like that every night, thats for sure. But hopefully we can keep playing well." Kawhi Leonard was the hero for the Spurs on Tuesday with a career-high 29 points. Leonard, who had scored just 18 points over the first two games of the Finals, shot 10-of-13 from the floor and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line for the Spurs. "I was focused on both ends the first two games. I just got in some foul trouble. Wasnt really able to get into a rhythm, and Heat did a good job by playing aggressive on defense," said Leonard. "I just made shots last minute." In addition to his offensive output, Leonard served as the primary defender against LeBron James, who supplied 22 points, seven assists, five rebounds and five steals, but committed seven of Miamis 20 turnovers in the setback. Danny Greeen added 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor, while Parker and Tim Duncan contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively, in the victory. PJ Tucker Suns Jersey. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made a change to the starting lineup prior to Game 3, inserting Boris Diaw for Tiago Splitter. The decision paid off as Diaw didnt post flashy numbers (nine points, three assists), but he helped facilitate the offense. For the Heat, the loss was bad and ruined a chance at a perfect home record during the postseason, but all is not lost. Miami is 13-0 following a loss in the playoffs dating back to 2012. "Youre always on edge in the postseason, but I dont want to be concerned at this point," James said after practice on Wednesday. "For us we have to make the adjustments. We owned what we had to do today in the film session and well come in with a better mindset tomorrow. But that doesnt mean it results in a win, too. But we have to play with a little bit more focus and a little bit more challenge." Dwyane Wade finished with 22 points, while Rashard Lewis went 4-of-5 from 3- point range en route to 14 points for the Heat. Wade, playing in his 150th career postseason game, surpassed Dirk Nowitzki (3,455) for 17th place on the NBAs all-time postseason scoring list. Chris Bosh had a slow night with only nine points thanks to just 12 touches. Mario Chalmers continued to struggle badly. He finished with just two points and has 10 for the whole series. "You want him to know we still have faith in him, trust in him and we need him," said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on Wednesday. "And hes been able to play through tough times and been able to bounce back." Spoelstra indicated no lineup changes were forthcoming. The winner of Game 3 of a tied NBA Finals series has gone on to win the series 83 percent of the time (30-6). However, the Spurs won last years Game 3 with the set tied 1-1 and went on to lose in seven games to the Heat. Game 5 will be Sunday night back in San Antonio. John Starks Knicks Jersey .Pete Morelli said the back judge threw a flag on Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens on a pass to Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew in Dallas 24-20 wild-card win Sunday. But the head linesman said there wasnt enough contact and that Hitchens was face-guarding, which isnt a penalty in the NFL. Phil Jackson Knicks Jersey .C. -- Marcus Paige and his North Carolina teammates have endured so many wild swings -- big wins, surprising losses, NCAA drama -- that no one can blame their Hall of Fame coach for wondering whats next. The Detroit Red Wings were bounced from the playoffs in the first round by the Boston Bruins, but they have also made the postseason every year since 1990. Off-Season Game Plan looks at a Wings team that has been rejuvenated with youth, but has a small window of time to capitalize on the talent of team leaders Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. The Wings have a bit of an interesting mix, with aging vets combined with young players who were thrust into bigger roles when those older players got hurt last year. While the Wings can be, at times, too patient with their prospects, those that were called upon last year -- including Gustav Nyquist, Tomas Tatar, Riley Sheahan and Tomas Jurco, among others -- were ready to play and contribute and that does provide reason for optimism going forward. "I think theres this perception that July 1 free agents, theres this hockey store, theres this fantasy hockey league that Im running, playing in, and that we can go get superstars," GM Ken Holland told Detroits CBS Affiliate. "Those days are over. That was a bit of the league prior to 2005. Those days are over. This is a league now where youve got to draft, youve got to develop, weve got to make people better."  Its one thing to be optimistic about what those young players might be able to contribute; its another to realize that there may not be that much longer that the Wings can count on premier production from Datsyuk and Zetterberg, so theres some reason for urgency in order to take advantage over the next couple seasons. The benefit of having so many young, and cheap, players is that the Wings have the financial flexibility to make some big moves this summer if they so choose. They have the cap room to go after the big fish in free agency, however shallow that pool might be, but also have cap room and prospects to be players on the trade market. The TSN.ca Rating is an efficiency rating based on per-game statistics including goals and assists -- weighted for strength (ie. power play, even, shorthanded) -- Corsi, adjusted for zone starts, quality of competition and quality of teammates, hits, blocked shots, penalty differential and faceoffs. Generally, a replacement-level player is around a 60, a top six forward and top four defenceman will be around 70, stars will be over 80 and MVP candidates could go over 90. Since 2005-2006, Zetterberg is one of nine players to play at least 500 games and average better than a point per game. Hes also one of the all-timers in puck possession metrics and remains effective in that regard even though he consistently faces the highest-quality opposition. Its one thing for the Wings to be missing Zetterberg for a significant amount of time, but to also lose Pavel Datsyuk for 37 games, thanks to a degenerative knee. While Zetterberg scored more last season, Datsyuk actually comes in ahead of Zetterberg on a couple of the above lists (points per game, Corsi%). Its worth noting that the Wings took it easier on Datsyuk last season, with more offensive zone starts and easier quality of competition than he faced previously. These could be the kind of allowances you make for a supremely-skilled 35-year-old who is grinding through injury, but Datsyuk also averaged 20:16 of ice time per game, his highest since 2009-2010, so its not like he was relegated to a lesser role. Absurdly demoted to the AHL at the start of last season, because the Red Wings had bottled up their roster with too many veterans under contract, Gustav Nyquist ripped through the AHL for 21 points in 15 games before getting recalled and he was one of the leagues hottest goal-scorers, going on a stretch from January 20 through April 2 during which he scored 23 goals in 28 games. There is no reason to believe that Nyquist will continue to be an 18% shooter, so get ready for regression, but dont dismiss him altogether. Hes got great jets, is a top-shelf possession player and has the offensive track record (including 143 points in 137 AHL games) so that Nyquist has to enter next season with high expectations. Concussions cost Johan Franzen many of the 28 games that he missed last year and while there are some indications that the 34-year-olds play is slipping, Franzen has put up better than 0.70 points per game for six straight seasons, including 0.76 last season. His best years are behind him, but Mule can still be a useful complement to Datsyuk, a spot that has been a good place for him for many years. Injuries have threatened to derail Darren Helms career, but the speedy checking centre battled back to play a mostly regular role once he returned to action. He still missed time with a groin injury and a concussion, but Helm proved to be a valuable contributor, though a tad fortunate considering that his shooting percentage (14.5%) was double his previous career rate. A hard-nosed winger with limited offensive upside, Justin Abdelkader did score a career-high 28 points last season, playing a career-high 15:17 per game. The issue with those scoring totals, however, is that Abdelkader spent most of his time playing with highly-skilled players (Zetterberg, Nyquist and datsyuk were among his most common linemates) so there is some offensive opportunity cost to playing him in that role too often. Joakim Andersson has worked his way into a regular spot in the lineup, but was as unlucky as anyone in the Detroit lineup last season, coming in on the low end of both on-ice shooting and save percentages. Despite minimal offensive production, Drew Miller has played all but four games over the past two seasons. He also plays more -- a career-high 14:08 last season -- than his possession numbers might typically warrant. An undrafted free agent, Luke Glendening quickly earned the trust of the Red Wings coaching staff though hes not very productive and gets thumped in possession terms. It was easy enough to write off Stephen Weisss 2012-2013 season due to the wrist surgery that he required, and he had several suitors as a free agent last summer, but his first season in Detroit was a disaster, and his production over the past two seasons is in the neighbourhood of fourth-line enforcers. Would the Red Wings be willing to stomach a buy out on a contract that has four years and $20.5-million remaining? If not, theyre really hoping for a dramatic turnaround. A first-round pick in 2010, Riley Sheahan was a useful contributor upon getting called up to Detroit. He wont be able to sustain the percentages that contributed to his goal and point production, but he was a solid possession performer too, and that will work in any circumstances. Overshadowed by Nyquist, Tomas Tatar was the Red Wings second-leading goal-scorer in his first full season. His usage tilted the ice in his favour, but Tatar delivered strong possession numbers too and, like Nyquist, has to be counted on as an offensive producer going forward. There are more options to fill out Detroits forward ranks. Prospect Tomas Jurco split last season between Detroit and Grand Rapids; Daniel Alfredsson is an unrestricted free agent and, with so many young players on the roster, the WWings have loads of cap room should they wish to trade for the likes of Jason Spezza, Eric Staal, Ryan Kesler or sign free agents like Paul Stastny, Thomas Vanek, Jarome Iginla or Marian Gaborik. A mobile puck-mover who delivers some of the most devastating hits in the league, Kronwall is the clear-cut number one on a unit that, generally, lacks experience. Brendan Smith has the skill to play a bigger role and saw more minutes late in the year and into the playoffs, but he has not displayed the same offensive production that he had in the AHL or at the University of Wisconsin. Nevertheless, there is an opportunity for 25-year-old Smith, who has been a solid possession player, to seize playing time on the Detroit blueline Its been a gradual process for Jakub Kindl to establish himself as a regular on the Detroit blueline and hes managed to put up decent possession numbers in the past couple seasons as Detroit shelters his usage, with relatively easy competition and more offensive zone starts. Jonathan Ericsson has been thrust into a prominent role, playing more than 21 minutes per game over the past two seasons. Ericssons flawed, but manages to put up decent possession numbers while facing high-quality opposition. An inexpensive depth defenceman who worked his way up as an undrafted free agent, Brian Lashoff continues to improve and while hes not pushing for top-four minutes, there is room for Lashoff to hold the sixth spot on the Wings blueline. Though he played more than 21 minutes per game as a rookie, and faced quality opposition, Danny DeKeyser was on the ice for more shot attempts against than for during 5-on-5 play. Hes a fluid skater and can move the puck, but DeKeyser needs to continue to improve if hes going to hold down a spot in the Wings top four. The Wings will have the cap room to spend if they decide that a defensive upgrade is prudent. Free agents like Andrei Markov or Dan Boyle might provide value, in that they wont necessarily require a long term, but would be able to contribute while Datsyuk and Zetterberg are still capable of keeping the Wings in playoff contention. The heir apparent for the Red Wings number one goaltending job, Petr Mrazek has done nothing to diminish that expectation. Hes big and can put the puck in the net. Since this is the Red Wings, Mantha is going to start in the AHL, but his rise could be quick. A second-round pick in 2011, Tomas Jurco has good size and brilliant puck skills, breaking out in his second pro season, scoring a point-per-game in the AHL, then adding eight goals and 15 points, with excellent possession stats, in 36 NHL games. Barring a roster crunch, Jurco should be in the NHL next season. Another second rounder from 2011, Xavier Ouellet has impressed with his heady play and earned a four-game audition with the Wings last season. He didnt look out of place and could challenge for a spot as soon as next season. Drafted in the fifth round in 2010, Petr Mrazek has been consistently strong since then, with Ottawa in the OHL, the Czech Republic in the World Juniors and with Grand Rapids in the AHL. The 22-year-old could be ready for an NHL job; then the question will be how soon hes ready to push for the No. 1 spot. Selected in the fifth round in 2011, Mattias Backman is a smooth, puck-moving defenceman who joined Grand Rapids following a strong year in Sweden. He could get stronger and will have to get used to the North American game, but the 21-year-old may not be far away from earning a look. A talented player with a big shot from the point, Ryan Sproul was a second-round pick in 2011. He can refine his play without the puck, but the raw package is intriguing. Picked in the fourth round in 2010, Teemu Pulkkinen had a very strong first year in North America, putting up 36 goals and 70 points in 81 (regular season plus playoff) AHL games and getting a three-game trial with the Wings. There are a lot of young forwards that have just cracked the Detroit roster, which makes Pulkkinens quest more challenging. A fourth-round pick in 2012, Andreas Athanasiou is a gifted offensive player with size and skill, but will need time to work on his two-way play before he might contend for a spot in Detroit. A late bloomer who was a third-round pick last summer, Mattias Janmark-Nylen has put up a couple of strong seasons in the Swedish Hockey League, and the 21-year-old will need to show he can do it in North America before expectations get raised too much. Continuing the run of mid-to-late-round selections that have climbed the Wings prospect ranks, 2009 seventh-rounder Adam Almqvist has tallied 84 points in 141 AHL games over the past two years. Hes on the small side, but the ability of defenders to move the puck is increasingly valuable. Another seventh-rounder, from 2011, Alexei Marchenko had a solid first year in North America, even getting a game with the Red Wings. He has good size and could develop into a stay-at-home defender. Drafted in the sixth round in 2009, Mitch Callahan is an agitator coming off a productive AHL season. His ceiling isnt high, but he could earn a look on the fourth line. MIAMI - Down by 16 points in the second half, the Dallas Mavericks were in big trouble. Bismack Biyombo Raptors Jersey .For a couple minutes, anyway. The Mavericks pulled off the ultimate turnaround — going from the receiving end of a blowout to administering one, and doing so with almost unbelievable speed and ease.A 37-2 run was more than enough, and the Mavericks embarrassed Miami with a 93-72 win on Friday night. It was the 600th regular-season victory for Dallas coach Rick Carlisle and another troubling chapter in the erratic story of the Heat season. At some point you say, This is enough, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. We dont know how we get into these situations, but it will change.Dallas trailed 49-33 in the third quarter. The score the rest of the way: Dallas 60, Miami 23.No Dwyane Wade, no Luol Deng, and no chance for the Heat once the run started for the Mavericks.Charlie Villanueva scored 14 of his season-high 20 points after halftime for Dallas, which got 12 points apiece from Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis, and an 11-point, 13-rebound effort from Tyson Chandler.Youve got to beat the guys that are out there and Miami is well-coached, theyre athletic, theyre going to play hard, so we had to take this game, Nowitzki said. They werent going to give it to us and thats what we did there in the second half.Miamis Hassan Whiteside had 16 points and 24 rebounds, matching the second-most for a single game in franchise history. James Ennis scored 15, Chris Bosh had 12 and Mario Chalmers scored 10 for the Heat, who now head out on a weeklong road trip clinging to the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference.Speechless, Whiteside said, when asked about the second-half collapse.Whiteside was dominant early with 14 rebounds in the first 8 minutes alone, and the Heat led 45-33 at the half. When Whiteside went out late in the third, Miami led 60-51.When he returned, Miami was down 72-60, having been outscored 21-0 during his absence — and the run just kept going. So now, without Wade on Friday night — and probably for a few more games — because of his strained hamstring, the Heat need all hands on deck, Spoelstra said. Some of those hands on Friday?Norris Cole shot 1 for 10, Shawne Williams shot 1 for 6, Danny Granger shot 0 for 6. Take away Whitesides 7-for-11 night, and the rest of the Heat shot 22 for 77 — 29 per cent.Just a tough one, Heat guard Tyler Johnson said.TIP-INSMavericks: It was Villanuevas first 20-point game since he finished with 21 against San Antonio on Feb. 8, 2013. ... F Chandler Parsons missed the game because of an illness. It forced the Mavs into using their 10th lineup of the season. ... Dallas went from down 16 to up 26 at one point in the second half, a 42-point swing in about 20 minutes.Heat: Wade will not accompany Miami on at least the first part of its weeklong road trip that starts Sunday in Boston, staying home to continue rehabbing his strained hamstring. ... Deng (calf) is improving and will travel, Spoelstra said after Miami used a 19th lineup in 46 games. ... Johnson made his home debut, getting three assists in the second quarter.BATTIER RETURNSRetired NBA player Shane Battier, who ended his career with the Heat and won two championships in Miami, was working again in the arena on Friday night. Battier, who has kept his South Florida home, got a loud ovation from early arriving fans when he walked onto the court about 40 minutes before tip-off.FIRST QUARTER BLANKSDallas won despite shooting just 18 per cent in the first quarter. Miami led 15-13 after the opening 12 minutes, despite shooting 23 per cent — days after shooting 71 per cent in the first quarter against Milwaukee and actually trailing 30-29 after that period.UP NEXTMavericks: At Orlando on Saturday.Heat: At Boston on Sunday. Jason Thompson Jersey . Now he can be had by any team willing to pay his salary. According to a report from ESPN, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are shopping the veteran CB and plan on releasing him Wednesday if they cant find a trade partner. James Johnson Raptors Jersey . Rinne had surgery on his left hip May 9 and recovered in time to start the season. He then had arthroscopic surgery on Oct. 24 because of a bacterial infection in his hip.DETROIT – Randy Carlyle made sure he was being asked about James Reimer after a one-goal loss in Detroit, pausing before he offered an assessment of the now 26-year-old understudy. “I thought he was okay, you know, just okay,” said Carlyle with a tone of evident frustration after a 3-2 defeat to the injury-riddled Red Wings squad, the Leafs third in the past four games. Long a point of stability this season Toronto goaltending has suddenly been thrown into question with Carlyles remarks, Reimers performance and the uncertain status of injured no. 1 Jonathan Bernier. Starting in place of Bernier for the second straight game – his fourth consecutive appearance – Reimer allowed three goals on 31 shots, including a game-sealing squeaker under the left arm from Daniel Alfredsson with the Leafs down one in the final minutes of regulation. It was the kind of stop Bernier has made routinely this season, one that Reimer needed to make at that point in the game and perhaps what soured Carlyle most afterward, Torontos comeback attempt ultimately falling short. “So he said I was just okay,” said Reimer, responding to Carlyles comments. “I thought I played good, but obviously youd like to make at least one of those saves in the third.” Such blunt discontent was certainly out of character for Carlyle, who rarely, if ever, singles out any one player, even under the most obvious of circumstances. He was surely agitated by the loss – which saw the Leafs drop further behind Tampa and Montreal in the race for second in the Atlantic – unhappy with the officiating and displeased with a schedule that has his club right back at it Wednesday following 10 long days on the road. To land Reimer in the cross-hairs though on this night was unfair. His team started slowly opposite a Detroit squad that was missing a slew of key components, including Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk. They also suffered breakdowns – Tim Gleason and Paul Ranger both caught flat-footed at the offensive blue-line – that led to Nyquists two breakaways, while also managing just two goals for the third time in four games (all losses). Whatever his motivation the remarks wont help a sketchy dynamic between coach and player, one that includes a very public stare-down from Reimer in the first period of a loss to these same Red Wings on Dec. 21. Further inflaming the matter afterward were the words of Reimers agent and close friend Ray Petkau, who tweeted, "As is customary in Toronto, when your team plays poor defensively game after game you blame your goalie." Petkau later said the tweet was not in response to Carlyles comments. Doubted and dissected often throughout his Toronto tenure and a restricted free agent to be in the summer of 2014, Reimer will probably use this latest bit of critique as motivation and for the Leafs that may be a good thing. Bernier remains out for the foreseeable future (more on that in Five Points) leaving Reimer as the go-to guy in goal with key division battles ahead against the Lightning and Canadiens. They need him to regain the form he showed last year and displayed recently in relief against the Kings, a brilliant performance that saw him turn aside all 31 shots he faced in an impressive road win. “I dont know if I was great and I would like to be great, but I thought I made some good saves when I needed to,” Reimer concluded of his evening. “Unfortunately at the end, especially that third one, you want to come and make a big save for your team there. Unfortunately wasnt the case tonight.” Five Points 1. Kessel Cools Off Cooling off from an unsustainably scorching stretch that saw him post 31 points in a 17-game span, Phil Kessel had seven shots and was a force against the Red Wings, but ultimately went point-less for the fourth straight game and sixth time in the past eight. Its the fifth time this season that the 26-year-old has gone three games or more without a point. The Leafs are now 6-19-2 on such occasions, two of those wins coming in recent weeks against the Flyers and Kings. Chasing the first 40-goal season of his NHL career – he has 34 currently – Kessel has just one goal in the past eight games. James van Riemsdyk, who thrived through a recent stretch of 11 goals and 21 points in 17 games, has also cooled some, snapping a seven-game drought with the late marker in Detroit. The Leafs have leaned heavily on their top line – which also includes Tyler Bozak – for offence, needing the likes of Nazem Kadri (two goals in the past 13 games), Joffrey Lupul (two goals in the past 13), David Clarkson (one in the past 22) and Mason Raymond (the hottest of the group with six in the past 15) to chip in regularly for support. Aside from the odd contribution, however, theyve not done so consistently. Toronto forwards were responsible for only five goals (of 12) during the five-game road trip. 2. Road Trip A road trip that began with so much promise for the Leafs – following wins in Anaheim and Los Angeles – soured at the end with losses in Washington and Detroit. Toronto finishes the season-long swing with a 2-3-0 mark, not bad, but hardly desirable.. Bruno Caboclo Raptors Jersey. “I wouldnt call it a success,” said Jake Gardiner, who scored for the fourth time in the past six games. “We were thinking three out of five wouldve been good. Two of five is okay. Games on the road are always tough, something we have to move on from.” “This game and the last game I dont think that we played as well as we have been playing or can play so thats the negative about it,” said Carlyle. “But we battled back, we didnt quit, we found a way to get two goals tonight and make a game of it. Flush this and get ready for tomorrow.” The Leafs have played two more games than the Lightning, whom they host Wednesday, and trail them by a point. They sit three back of the Canadiens, whom they face at home on Saturday. 3. Wearing Down? Second and third among Toronto forwards in ice-time this season and both key members of Team USA at the Sochi Olympics, one might be led to wonder whether Kessel and van Riemsdyk are simply wearing down at this late stage in the season. Both have seen their ice-time rise (slightly) in March as the Leafs trend toward an 11-forward, seven-defender lineup. Kessel, who had a second period breakaway attempt stopped by Jimmy Howard, actually entered the night as the team-leader in ice-time this month, averaging more than 22 minutes. van Riemsdyk was just a touch behind at nearly 22 himself. “Its been very demanding,” said Carlyle of the schedule and its effects on playing time. “Its the first time in my career that you go out on a 10-day road trip and you come back and youve got to play back-to-back at home with your first game back. I dont know where that one comes from.” van Riemsdyk led all Toronto forwards this night with more than 22 minutes, Kessel a shade behind with just under 21, including exactly nine minutes in the third. Carlyle employed eight forwards for most of that final frame as the Leafs looked to even the score. 4. Bernier Status Nursing a groin injury, Bernier remained off the ice for the fifth consecutive day on Tuesday. He then missed his second straight game in Detroit and will sit out again at home on Wednesday when the Leafs host the Lightning. With a likely day off for the team on Thursday, his status for the weekend also appears in real doubt with a back-to-back looming against the Canadiens and Devils. That would mean a return next week at the earliest, all of which ups the pressure on Reimer to perform. “Theres always going to be that push to get your people back,” said Carlyle ahead of a tilt against the Red Wings. “Bottom line is the player makes the decision. All we can do is treat him medically, provide him with the right environment, give him the opportunity to test his injury if hes good enough to go and well make the decision based upon input from him the player.” Though hes split each and every back-to-back set between his two goaltenders this season, Carlyle would be hard-pressed to not come back with Reimer on Wednesday even in light of Tuesdays circumstance. Though hes enjoyed a fine season with the Marlies, Drew MacIntyre has yet to start an NHL game. 5. Phaneuf Scare Upended by the stick of David Legwand in the final frame of Tuesdays affair, Dion Phaneuf remained down on the ice before quickly departing for the Toronto dressing room. He returned to the bench a few moments later, chirping at ref Dan OHalloran for the non-call on Legwand. “Theres no point in talking about it,” said Phaneuf afterward. “It wasnt a slew foot, it was actually a stick, but its done and over with.” The Leafs captain said he had the wind knocked out of him on the play. He still managed to lead his team with more than 23 minutes on this night. Stats-Pack 2-3-0 – Leafs record on five-game road trip. 1 – Goals for Phil Kessel in the past eight games. 208 – Man games lost to injury for Toronto this season, a pittance compared to the 322 lost by Detroit, who were without the likes of Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, Stephen Weiss, and Darren Helm on Tuesday night. 6-19-2 – Leafs record this season when Kessel does not record a point. 4 – Consecutive appearances by James Reimer, doing so for the first time this season. 6 – Consecutive games with a goal by the Toronto defence, four of which have come from Jake Gardiner. 5 – Goals from Toronto forwards on the five-game road trip. 41-48 – Leafs penalty kill over the past 16 games. A review of the rest of Navan where The Gurkha stated his Classic case and Aidan OBrien had an update on US Ranger. Nathaniel Clyne England Jersey . Aasheq was a disappointment as The Gurkha stretched right away with the Kilberry (C & G) Maiden at Navan. The former had been second to Investec Derby favourite US Army Ranger in what looked a hot maiden at the Curragh but while quickening into contention two and a half furlongs out, he could never get to Moore on The Gurkha, who was never out of cruise control. Completing a treble for the Aidan OBrien team, The Gurkha came forward markedly from his Leopardstown third on debut as he strode on in impressive fashion from the front, slamming Saafarr by nine lengths.Rabbie The Bard was third, with 8-11 market leader Aasheq fading to be well beaten.Paddy Power eased US Army Ranger by a point to 5-1 for Epsom, installing The Gurkha at 16-1.OBrien said: He had a good draw and it worked out lovely. Seamie (Heffernan) loved him at Leopardstown, he was mad about him when he came in and Ryan was mad about him there. We thought he might be a French Guineas horse, he came forward lovely and youd be delighted with him today.Hes only a baby but probably learned a lot the first day, even though he got beaten. If we could get one (another run) in between we would, but its not essential.I asked Ryan if hed get further (than a mile) - he said a mile and a quarter but he wasnt sure after that. Hes a horse with a lot of pace, I wouldnt be sure about a mile and a half. Its Ryans first time here and he was very complimentary about the track. He added of US Army Ranger: Thats the route were going with US Army Ranger and always was - the Curragh, then a trial, then Epsom. He has an option between Chester and the Derrinstown and its very possible he will go to Chester. Theres a big atmosphere there, with tight bends and he has to learn a lot in a short space of time. The earlier win for Hyzenthlay was officially for OBrien but in effect was a first two-year-old winner for son Joseph, who supervised her preparation at the familys Piltown base in County Kilkenny.OBrien junior said: She was going nicely and showing plenty of speed. It was our first two-year-old to run from the hill (in Piltown) and we were not sure what kind of marker we had on them.We werent going to run her because of the ground. She might be a stakes-type filly.OBrien seniors second winner was Pretty Perfect in the Listed Salsabil Stakes (see separate race report).Denise Foster enjoyed a notable big-race success as Lilys Rainbow won the Listed Heritage Stakes over a mile.On a day where those racing prominently fared particularly well, Billy Lees mount soon led, in company with Dragon Fei and Flight Risk close behind in third. The 16-1 chance held a clear advantage a furlong and a half out and stayed on strongly to score by three and a quarter lengths from Brendan Brackan.Lee said: That was brilliant, to be fair to Denise she said she was well, she has form on the ground and she stays well. There was no pace, so I was happy to let her bowl along in front and she enjoyed it.I knew she had a bit left in the tank and she galloped all the way to the line. You have to grind it out in that ground and she gets a mile and a quarter well.Foster, who currently has five horses in training, was recording her first win at Listed level. She said: Shes a completely different filly this year. She is so much more relaxed both at home and in the way she runs.I cant believe it, but the one thing she has is a huge heart and she kept finding more and more.I was really happy with her in the last few weeks, but I was just hoping she could finish third. Sky Racing Tickets Fast, secure racing tickets: Exclusive racing offers near you The prominently-ridden theme continued as Misty Millie powered away with the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden.Another to hail from a small yard, this time Peter Cluskey, the once-raced daughter of Dylan Thomas took full advantage of the withdrawal of favourite Creme De La, who refused to go into the stalls.Ryan Moore and the debutant Earring tried to make a race of it, but Colin Keane always had matters in hand and the 16-1 winner went further and further clear in the final furlong.Cluskey said: We thought it was a good maiden she ran in at Gowran last back end, and we thought with the ground drying out wed take our chance and see what we have.I have four horses, its great to have one like that and I think the owner is keen to hang on to her.I hope the handicapper is kind to me!The closing Navan Adventure Sports And Driving Range Handicap went to the Seamie Heffernan ridden Next Bend (8-1). The Islanders picked up their fifth straight win on Wednesday, taking the opener of this series with a 3-2 overtime victory against the visiting Capitals. It also was the 10th victory in the past 11 games for New York, which enters today tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for first place in the division. Another victory on Friday would give the Isles their first six-game winning streak since Feb. 12-21, 2008. John Tavares notched a power-play goal with 24 seconds remaining in OT to help the Isles beat Washington for only the second time in the past six meetings. New York does own a 3-1-2 mark over the last six encounters in D.C. Washingtons Alex Ovechkin tied the game at 2-2 with a power-play tally late in the second period and the score stayed that way until Tavares ended the contest late in the extra session. The Isles went on the power play after Nicklas Backstrom was sent off for holding the stick at 2:38 of OT. As time wound down in the advantage, Ryan Strome circled on the left wing from the goal line back into the circle and dished across to the New York captain. Tavares waited until a Capitals defenseman slid, then moved towards the hashmarks before scoring on a wriister. Ryan Bertrand Jersey. It kind of just skipped up and I saw the guy coming at me so I just tried to make a fake on him and freeze him, said Tavares. I got around him and saw the far side there low and just tried to hit the spot. Anders Lee and Travis Hamonic supplied additional offense for New York, with Strome chipping in two assists. Jaroslav Halak came up with 25 saves for the win. Halak improved his career record against the Capitals to 4-4-0 and he could get the start again tonight. He also owns a lifetime 2.76 goals against average versus Washington. Halak had a brief tenure with the Capitals, suiting up in 12 games for Washington last season after coming over in a trade with Buffalo. Ovechkin picked up both scores for the Capitals, giving the four-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner 11 goals on the season. The Russian superstar played in his 700th NHL game on Wednesday and has 433 goals and 401 assists in his standout career. Braden Holtby played well in defeat, making 32 stops, and Backstrom added a pair of assists. The start wasnt great, but after that I thought we went toe-to-toe with them, said Capitals coach Barry Trotz. Holtby is 5-1-1 with a 2.07 GAA in seven career games against the Isles. Both the Capitals and Isles will be in action tomorrow, with Washington visiting Toronto and New York returning home to face the New Jersey Devils. CALGARY - Dane Dobbie and Jeff Shattler each scored four goals for Calgary as the Roughnecks defeated Colorado Mammoth 13-11 in National Lacrosse League play Friday. Bayern Munich Jersey . Geoff Snider had a hat trick for Calgary (1-1), while Shawn Evans and Karsen Leung also scored. Sean Pollock replied with a hat trick for Colorado (1-2). Adam Jones, John Grant Jr. and Drew Westervelt had two goals each, with Jordan McBride and Joel Dalgarno chipping in with singles. Calgarys Mike Poulin made 34 saves in net. Tye Belanger and Dillon Ward meanwhile combined to stop 41 shots for the Mammoth. Juan Bernat Jersey . Maximilian Arnold put Wolfsburg ahead in the eighth minute, when the stationary Fallou Diagne allowed him to guide Patrick Ochs cross beyond the helpless Freiburg goalkeeper, and Ivica Olic doubled the lead three minutes later after Luiz Gustavo did well to set him up. Javi Martinez Bayern Munich Jersey . -- Billy Andrade hasnt played much competitive golf over the past four years.BOSTON -- A few relaxing words from David Ortiz helped get Rubby De La Rosa in the right frame of mind for his first start in nearly three years. De La Rosa pitched seven shutout innings, Brock Holt hit his first career homer and the Boston Red Sox won their sixth straight with a 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night. The teams kept it clean a day after having their second benches-clearing scrum in less than a week. Taking the mound for a tense start after the teams cleared the benches in their last two meetings, De La Rosa heard all he needed from Big Papi. "David told me whatever happened last night, just focus on pitching," said De La Rosa, who allowed four hits and struck out eight without issuing a walk in his first start since July 31, 2011, when he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. each hit two-run homers, and Jonathan Herrera had three singles as the Red Sox continued to rebound from a recent 10-game losing streak. There was no carry-over from Friday nights game, when three Red Sox managers and a pitcher were ejected after Rays starter David Price hit Ortiz in the first inning and Mike Carp in the fourth. "No pregame warnings," Boston manager John Farrell said. "We met with the umpiring crew before the game, just had a chance to talk about a couple of things. That was it." De La Rosa (1-0), recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Pawtucket, made his first start for the Red Sox. "He showed four pitches for strikes," Farrell said. "Given the environment, given what we went through last night, he was outstanding." The 25-year old right-hander was acquired in Bostons salary-dump deal in August 2012 that sent Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez to the Dodgers. Rays first baseman James Loney, who also came over in the deal with De La Rosa, remembered the talent the righty showed. "Yeah. hes always had an electric arm and wants to be out there, a good competitor," he said. "Hes probably what, mid 20s? Back then, he was a good pitcher and you knew he was going to be good. Patrick Weihrauch Jersey. " Kevin Kiermaier had an inside the park homer for the Rays, who have lost five straight. It came when Bradley Jr. attempted a leaping grab and the ball caromed off the Green Monster, off his face and rolled away as he was down on the ground. Rays manager Joe Maddon was happy the teams didnt follow Fridays hard feelings with any nastiness. "It was really nice to go out there and not be concerned with a bunch of garbage and just play the game," he said. "I was pleased with that a lot. I thought it was a well-played game." Last Sunday at Tropicana Field, the clubs had a scrum after the Red Sox were yelling from the dugout when Yunel Escobar stole third with the Rays holding a big lead. Rays starter Jake Odorizzi (2-5) lasted just 3 1-3 innings, giving up five runs and six hits with two wild pitches. The Red Sox grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third when Holt homered in Bostons bullpen after Herrera singled. Carp added a sacrifice fly. Boston added two more in the fourth and chased Odorizzi. Herrera dropped down a safety squeeze, and was credited with a hit, when Grady Sizemore slid in just under the throw, making it 4-0. A.J. Pierzynski added an RBI single. Bradley Jr.s two-run homer made it 7-0 in the fifth. NOTES: Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia was out with a sore right hand. He was hurt on a swing in Friday. He had an MRI and the results showed "no further or structural damage." ... Rays RF Wil Myers and SS Escobar were also out with injuries. Myers hurt his right hand in a fall when he tumbled over CF Desmond Jennings as the pair collided on Pierzynskis game-ending triple on Friday. Escobar injured his quad running out a grounder Friday, but Maddon said he should be back "(Sunday) or Monday at the worst." ... Red Sox LHP Jon Lester (5-6, 3.45 ERA) faces LHP Erik Bedard (2-3, 4.10) in the series finale on Sunday. ... To make room for De La Rosa, the Red Sox optioned OF/1B Daniel Nava to Pawtucket. BOSTON - Annually sprinkled among the myriad storylines which crop up at this very important time of the Major League Baseball season is that of the veteran player, he who has long performed at a high level and has long been good for the game, seeking an elusive World Series ring. Christian Fischer Coyotes Jersey Authentic . Wouldnt you know it, with the American League Championship Series set to begin on Saturday night at Fenway Park, the host Red Sox and the visiting Tigers each have one of those guys. Canadian Ryan Dempster fits the bill. At 36 years old and in his first season in Boston, the native of Gibsons, British Columbia has made his money (more than $89 million over a 16-year career, according to baseball-reference.com;) has pitched at a high level (eight seasons with at least 10 wins - the fact he was a closer for four seasons makes the accomplishment more impressive;) and is regarded by both teammates and media as one of the more likable players in the sport. Anyone who was paying attention during Dempsters days with the Cubs remembers him out-Farrelling Will Farrells Harry Caray impression. He was also the closer on the 2007 Chicago team that was swept by Arizona in a Division Series. In 2008, by then more than four years removed from Tommy John elbow surgery, he reprised his role as a starter. He even got the ball in the first game of that seasons Division Series against the Dodgers. The Cubs, oh the lovable Cubs, were swept yet again. These days, Dempster has accepted a diminished role in the post-season. Hes pitching out of the bullpen for the first time since 2007, a move made in mid-September in anticipation of the playoffs. "It was funny, I remember getting called into the office right before we were playing the Blue Jays, that last series of the season with them and John (Farrell) and Ben (Cherington) pulled me in and we were talking about the possibility of me going to the bullpen for the playoffs and maybe getting me a few outings out of the pen just to get used to it again," Dempster told TSN.ca. "I dont know if they expected me to have a different response but I greeted it with open arms and looked at it like, hey man, at the time we had six starters throwing the ball really well and the realization was with my experience in the bullpen I was totally comfortable going down there." With Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz returning to pre-2012 form, with John Lackey back from Tommy John elbow surgery and throwing like the ace he was in Anaheim and with the mid-summer acquisition of Jake Peavy bringing his bulldog-like mound presence and nasty sinker ball, it was clear Dempster (8-9, 4.64, 1.453 WHIP in his first year in the American League East) wouldnt be getting starts come October. Thats okay, because its whats best for the team and in 2013, whats best for the team prevails in Boston. "From a pitching standpoint, weve got some tremendous starting pitchers," said Dempster. "Weve got a really strong bullpen and then we try to focus as hard on those things as we do the little things. The defence, the moving runners over, taking advantage on the basepaths. If you can do those little things, those are things that kind of help you set yourself apart from the other teams that youre playing." Torii Hunter is over there, in the other dugout, and he knows all about what Dempster has gone through (multiple playoff appearances, no titles) and what Dempsters anticipating now. Hes been to the playoffs nine times (five with the Twins, thrice with the Angels and currently with the Tigers,) and hasnt had a World Series appearance, let alone a championship, to show for it. This is his third ALCS appearance, the last of which came with the 2009 Angels. "To be back in the post-season and to get the chance to win a World Series ring, thats big for me," said Hunter, before joking, "Thats key for me because Im only 28 years old but its getting late." Typical Hunter. Big smile, cracking a joke, keeping those around him at ease. You stand there and believe he could actually be deriving enjoyment from this player availability session. Like Dempster, Hunter has made his money (almost $147 million over a 17-year career, according to baseball-reference.com;) hes played at a high level (.279/.335/.476 for his career;) and hes regarded as a good teammate and community guy, involved in numerous charitable endeavours. Last season Hunter, knowing with the emergence of Mike Trout and his own impending free agency that his days with the Angels were numbered, began keeping a mental notebook of teams around the league. He was trying to figure out where he would best fit and which team would best fit him. The Yankees were a legitimate option. Funny enough, so were the Red Sox. Both received strong consideration before Hunter inked a two-year, $26-million deal with the Tigers through 2014. "Do these guys need a right fielder?" said Hunter of one of his scouting criteria. "Do they need a two-hole guy or fifth-hole guy? I looked at the pitching staffs. If I didnt like facing those guys and I went 0-14, thats the team I wanted to play for and I did that a lot with the Tigers last year. I had a chance to look at all that and look at Scherzer and Verlander, Anibal coming back so I definitely took my chances with those guys." With strong starting pitching and potent offensive lineups, its difficult to predict with certainty which team will emerge victorious. One thing is clear, however: Only one of Dempster and Hunter will get a shot at that ring. Michael Stone Coyotes Jersey Authentic . And though his comeback night didnt quite go to script, Bryant couldnt help reflecting on the work necessary to get back on that court -- and all the months of steady labour ahead to reclaim his game. Bryant had nine points and eight rebounds in his season debut, but Amir Johnson scored a career-high 32 points in the trade-depleted Toronto Raptors 106-94 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday night. Tobias Rieder Coyotes Jersey Authentic . Appearing on TSN 690 Monday afternoon, Mike Babcock said he had conversations with both P.K. Subban and Carey Price about those on-ice traits during Hockey Canadas summer orientation camp. Mike Babcock: McGill experience, P.RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Rio organizers say the sailing competition that marked the first test event for the 2016 Games was "a great success." Organizers said all objectives were "successfully reached" in the seven-day event that ended Saturday. Nearly 330 athletes from 35 countries participated in the regatta, the biggest ever held in Brazil. In a statement, local organizers made no direct reference to water polllution at the bay, a topic that has attracted a lot of negative attention after officials admitted they will not be able to completely clean the site until 2016. Louis Domingue Coyotes Jersey Authentic. . The sports director of the local organizing committee, Rodrigo Garcia, said the games first test came to a close "with a sense of mission accomplished." The regatta was the first in a series of 45 national and international test events.
